It has now been a week since The Great Day Of Moving, when I ditched Blogger for Wordpress on this very blog. How’s it been?
Actually, pretty good. There’s a few things I miss, a few things I’ve gained, but (most importantly), I haven’t regretted it. I’m now considering shifting my Gaming Diary over to Wordpress too, but that’s going to be a bigger task, and one that I’m tempted to avoid until a few things are ironed out. Anyway, here’s my list of what’s better on each of the two systems: Read the rest of this entry »
The first of our EeePCs arrived at work today, and what a lovely bit of kit it is. As is traditional, there was an Unpacking Ceremony, and here are a few pictures of the box and the unit in action.
Apologies for poor quality camera scans. It really is a lovely unit though. A bit thicker than I expected (and probably thicker than it needs to be really - especially at the back), and it runs slightly warm (but only slightly, it’s just I wasn’t expecting it to run warm at all). I’ve had a slight problem with WEP keys and multiple wireless access points too, but that seems to have sorted itself now.
Since moving my blog over to Wordpress (more thoughts on that at a later date), I’ve been able to check my blog access logs in more detail than previously. This includes search terms that have led people here.
Bizarrely, one of those terms that keeps cropping up is “Gary Wilmott”. Of course, it’s because of this post I made some time ago, but it still freaks me out that so many people are searching for him.
If you’re reading this, Gary, we love you and miss you on our screens.
Remember that interactive chicken thing that was an advert for KFC or something? Where you could tell it to jump up and down or die or hop or make cow noises? Some of which it responded to?
Well, this Free Your Buddy is like that, only with a purpose! It’s a text adventure, with video. Amazing!
To Wordpress. Hurrah! Maybe. Things seemed to go rather too smoothly, with only my old RSS feed vanishing in the process (I was going to put Wordpress’s feed at the same URL as the old Blogger one, but WP doesn’t seem to let you do that).
