I found out today that a friend of mine’s 8 week old baby died last night, in sudden and unexpected circumstances.

I can’t even begin to imagine how terribly this has hit him and his family. I know he won’t be reading this, but if on the very, very slim chance he might be, I’m so sorry for your loss, and my thoughts are with you.

It’s the sort of thing which is upsetting to anyone, even if they don’t know the people involved. With the imminent arrival of my own child I appear to have Dad-hormones on full at the moment, and I found the news very difficult to take in, much more so than I thought at first. It’s so very sad.
