We went back to the midwife for the 28-week checkup thing this week. Once again they put the baby on speaker-phone so we could hear its heartbeat (and it was more badum-badum than waka-waka again), and they also measuring my wife’s bump - 31cm.
Although not really important, they tend to prefer the size to be 1cm-per-week, +/- 1cm, so 31cm was good. Everything else was normal and as expected!
Anti-natal classes start next week!

Last night we went back to the midwife for the 24 week checkup. Thankfully, everything was fine, although once again the baby refused to stay still so it took a while to find him/her with the heartbeat-finding-device-thing that reminds me of those things people with no vocal cords use. But then it was found, and it sounded more like an actual heartbeat and less like Pac-man this time round.

By my unborn child! It was amazing!
I had my ear to my wife to have a listen (I’ve been able to hear various sounds for a few weeks now), but this time, I got a kick to the face! Yay!
Naturally, I kicked it back.

Today we went for the 20 week (well, 20 weeks and two days) scan at the hospital. Thankfully, everything was fine, even though we appear to have a wriggler - it wouldn’t stay still to let the nurse get a proper look! It also kept putting its hands over its face, which, although cute, didn’t really help.
We did manage to get a great picture when it finally calmed down though. I suspect it’s the ice lolly (onna stick - see the picture) it has that made it stop fidgetting…

So we’re just over the half-way stage! We bought some paint for the nursery last weekend. It’s blue, because although we don’t know (or want to know) if it’s a boy or a girl, it isn’t going to know, is it? Besides, the carpet and curtains are blue and we’re not changing them.

So my most excellent wife and I went to see the midwife today, and all the results from previous tests are fine and everything seems great. Then we got to hear the baby’s heartbeat through a device that looked like it was designed for detecting pipes in walls. It was very exciting!
What I didn’t expect, was that inside my wife is an actual game of Pac-man. I imagined the heartbeat noise would be sort of badumbadumbadumbadum, but in reality it was WAKAWAKAWAKAWAKA. Amazing!
