Yep, I feel for you mate. I have built most of my own furniture, I have restored motor cycles, I can do most things without difficulty – until 2 days ago when I received 4 blinds for the house without instructions. Damn. Nothing seems to fit, I have received 3 of everything. I’m now awaiting “instructions” from the company but in the meantime got on the web. I wish I hadn’t. The instructions there are a tad better than yours but still confusing at best. Sigh….

ow man, I just considered how your tutorial work if the system is had formatting..??!
I just follow your tutorial. any step is done, but it never work. and I remembered that my system has been formated. ow man, I dunno how to make it work. I have a plenty $20 I purchased from e-Shop..

Hi, I am having the same problem grrr, I have formated the hard drive and tried to install windows 7 and vista but cant get past the philps start screen. I have now tried installing the os onto the hard drive from a seperate computer but still no sucess. I was able to access the bios in the begining but cant even get to that now.

Seriously panicing now as I was doing this for a friend who had a magor virus and have done it to load of other pcs with out an issue. Think I may have bricked it.

I have tried booting from a usb drive to update the bios but nothing seems to work. Its the dreaded philips freevents 11nb5800.

When it was announced, I couldn’t care less. As time went on, I found I could care less – and did.

But a few weeks ago there was a trailer on the eShop and I was blown away. The reviews have been glowing too.

It might not be much like the original, but then, I never really liked the original…

Hi Ken,
The problem with these Philips laptops is that they were actually a bit ahead of their time. The HDD is a SATA drive which was very new when th machines were made. Consequently the Windows XP install disk (and from what you say Vista) doesn’t have the drivers, hence this thread about slipstreaming the drivers. I had no success with this and I couldn’t install Windows 7 (which has the necessary drivers) because the bios didn’t support this. Eventually I upgraded to the latest bios for the Twinhead mobo. Then W7 installed ok. I think this is the easiest and least technical solution.

Oh of course – that’s pretty simple, but purposefully left out. The aim is to get a very basic, no-frills game that shows the mechanics of an IF game before they create their own. They don’t even know what IF is yet, let alone how to write it!

Maybe you could get them to do some logic that lets a player use “open door” as a viable command if they already have the key? (Not that I’ve ever used Inform 7, so that might be trickier than it sounds…)
