Let’s Play! Panzadrome

Let’s Play! Panzadrome

Tanks, eh? Aren’t they great? Well, they might be, but Panzadrome, starring tanks is… less good. And it’s not so much a Let’s Play, more a Let’s Attempt to Play Because, Well, You’ll See.

As a kid, I’d load this up every so often in the hope I’d finally figure out how to play it this time. Surely I was missing something? The instructions didn’t help, because there weren’t any, so the game consisted of waiting for a tank to slowly shuffle out of a garage, then me trundling it round trying to avoid other tanks.

Of course, you could shoot the other tanks, but this would create an impassable crater preventing progress through the world. Or you could continue avoiding tanks, which is impossible for the most part because pathways are often a single tank width.

The good news is, that I had in fact – due to lack of manual – been missing something very important! As well as being able to move and shoot, you can also fill in craters! Hurrah! The bad news is, that you don’t have this ability to begin with and have to actually go and find it. Which you can’t do. Because of the above.

Panzadrome is a stupid game. Why don’t you try it yourself?

Controls: Left Shift and Z, left and right, X and C, back and forward, V is fire, P is use the crater filler you can’t ever get to.

The emulator used is Qaop/JS – a rather spiffy HTML5 Spectrum emulator.
