Oh. My. God. It’s a beetle fighting almost-RPG with chess overtones and special moves. And there’s lots of talking. Tons of it. In fact, it’s like Super Text Fighter II just to get to the actual game.

Thankfully, the combat seems to be pretty simple to understand. You have a 3×3 grid. In each turn, you each either move a square, or attack a square. You seem to have to guess which square your opponent’s beetle is going to move into though, or you waste a go. It’s very odd.

Anyway, I cose my dung beetle and defeated Generic Kid’s RPG Professor What Appears In All Games Like This To Train You. I hope it doesn’t get any more complicated than this as I have absolutely no idea what else is going on.

In fact, I suspect I may have deleted my saved game by accident already.

  1. You need a bit of knowledge of Japanese really, otherwise you’ll be wandering round in the dark with it. It was only about £15 when I got it, and that was a fair price, I thought, but at full price – not really.

Having said that, I haven’t played it in quite a while. I really should go back to it.

  2. If you want a full alphabet, you’re looking at a book. There’s more than 30,000 characters…

Try searching for “hiragana table” and “katakana” table if you just want the basics.
