Little King’s Story (Wii): COMPLETED!

FINALLY. After a billion attempts, culmonating in a couple of hours play (necessary, as from final save to boss is almost an hour), I finished it.

Overall, it’s an excellent Pikminy game, with just two annoying bits – a hard boss near the start, and a takes-too-long-to-reach and difficult boss at the end.

Little King’s Story (Wii)

The last few times I’ve played this, I’ve managed to reach the end of game boss. The problem is, he’s almost an hour from the previous save point and although if you die, you can continue from the boss again, if you have to stop playing and turn off your Wii, you’re stuffed.

So I’ve been stuffed three times now. Bah.

Still working through this, a bit each day (well, most days), and I’m now just over 24 hours in. I’ve defeated the three kings in and around Skull Plains, and now have to make my assault on the New Island, which is full of really, really difficult baddies.

I also made the mistake earlier of walking into a zombie trap. They closed the way out behind me, I couldn’t warp back to the castle, and you can’t kill them all as they keep respawning. Argh!

King Omelet was a pain too – not because he was difficult to kill (you don’t kill him, actually), but the questions he asks are difficult. Not least the one where he asks who talks “like this”, in the voice of a character, but since you rarely hear the characters talk, it’s more than a bit difficult.

Little King’s Story (Wii)

Got this for my birthday just over a month ago, and started playing it after Burnout last Saturday. I wasn’t all that sure what to expect from it, apart from some sort of cute RTS game, so was surprised to find that it was very much a Pikmin clone.

Well, nearly. The plot and setting is completely different, but the way the game plays is surprisingly similar, just on a different scale. You don’t have 100 Pikmin to command for starters – just 12 (more, later) guards, hunters, farmers or whatever.

Absolutely hooked already, and I’m about 5 1/2 hours in so far – having just beaten the Onii King and realising the game is at least 10 times the size it appeared to be at first. Excellent!
