Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons: FINNYSHED!

Hurrah! I had just one attempt today, but it was plenty to defeat the Dragon! I avoided almost all of his attacks, remembered to swap rings when necessary, and even ended up with several hearts remaining. Onox dead, Din saved, Game Over! Except for the bit that says “To be continued in Oracle of Ages”, of course. Good job I have that too!

Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons

Yes. I still haven’t managed to kill him. I even went back to Ring Man to see if I had any rings that might help me. I have a Power one, which increases my attack strength, but also weakens my defence. That’d be fine, since I can put it on just before I attack the dragon, then take it off in case I get hit. That was the plan, anyway. In reality, I lost all bar one heart before I …

Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons

Two or three entries to the diary for the price of one here, as I’ve been plowing through the game off and on today. Firstly, I finished off Dungeon 7. The ‘weapon’ there wasn’t what I thought it might be, though – it turned out to be Roc’s Cape – an upgrade to the feather allowing me to jump three times as far as previously. The mid-boss was pretty feeble, being just two ghosts I’d fought elsewhere in the dungeon, …

Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons

Since I have no completable handheld game on the go at the moment, this is stepping in to provide portable gaming. Or something. Typical Zelda fare so far, with the same baddies as always, and all that. One big difference so far is the fact I had to go and find my sword before I could fight anything. OK, so the very first Zelda game did the same thing, but in this one you have to travel a fair way …

Mahjongg Taikai

I am rubbish at this. FACT. I played another few games, and managed third place in one, and last in the other two. Am I missing something? I know you get more points for certain “tricks” and sets of tricks than others, but even getting a whopping 1-2-3 Bamboo, 4-5-6 Bamboo, 7-8-9 Bamboo, 5-5-5 Bamboo and a pair of Red Dragons wasn’t enough to whip the others. Stupid.

Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap

Made my way up the mountain again, realising I’d missed some obvious blow-open-walls bits (and hence why I was stuck). At the top, I found a Minish Mine, where a blacksmith took the broken Picori Blade and send me off to get the Fire Element from another nearby mine. Naturally, this was another dungeon. The mid-boss was a load of grey spiky wobbly things, and the weapon in this dungeon was the Cane of Pacci. How unfortunate. It flips things …

Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude

Looks like I’m nearly at the end of the game now. I had whirlwind romances with Barbera Jo (ended in a wet T-shirt competiton), Suzi (I joined her rock group and then spanked her), and Morgan. Morgan is by far the most bizarre of them, as she’s some kind of internet nerd, with whom I played strip-hand-slappy with, then the rudest game of Dungeons and Dragons you can imagine, and then finally we streaked campus. As they say in Americaland, …

Family Mahjongg II: Shanghai e no Michi

Grrr. There is cheating afoot. There must be! I never get any of the tiles I want, and the computer always manages to finish before I’m even halfway. When I get down to needing, say, either a 3 of Bamboo or a 6 of Bamboo to win, I get a steady stream of useless Wind and Dragon tiles. Conversely, if I want a particular Wind tile, all I get is tiles from suits I’m not even aiming for. Cheating. FACT. …
