Super Random Saturn Game Festival Of Strange (Saturn)

I fished out a load more Saturn games this evening. They included 2DO Arukotowa Sandoahru, which is a totally bizarre Wario Ware sort of game. You have to do lots of strange minigames to defeat foes. Things like Match The Easter Island Heads (why to the Japanese love Easter Island heads in their strange games?), Shoot The Meat In Half To Feed Two Lions, and The Fish Game That I Have No Idea How To Play. It’s fantastic, and seems …

Qwak (GBA)

Wow. This is my 100th GBA game, which is a milestone in itself, but it’s also the first non-licenced, home made cartridge-based game I’ve ever bought! Qwak is a remake (or port, or mix of the two – I’m not entirely certain) of the Amiga game of the same name. The GBA version is done by the original author too, so you can be sure it’s authentic! I don’t have the Amiga version, and I don’t recall playing it either, …

Don Doko Don (Xbox): COMPLETED!

I’d never heard of Don Doko Don. I don’t even recall seeing it on MAME. But I set about playing it (on Taito Legends 2) anyway, and then ended up completing it. Like several of the games on Taito Legends, Don Doko Don is very similar to Bubble Bobble. You have a single screen per level, and one or two players have to defeat all the baddies on the level to progress. Where Bubble Bobble have Bub and Bob, dinosaurs …

Taito Legends 2 (Xbox)

This arrived today (along with a copy of Project Gotham Racing 2, which I already own), so I thought I’d have a quick play and see what games are on there. Played Cameltry, Bubble Bobble Memories, Pop ‘n Pop, Space Invaders DX, some isometric fighting game, and a few others. Of course, Bubble Bobble Memories was the superacebestest of the lot.

Mawashite Koron (DS)

Supposedly, this is a sequel-of-sorts to Cameltry on the SNES and in the arcade. I’ve never played it, so I don’t know how it compares. It’s sort of like a cross between a 2D Super Monkey Ball and the special stages from Sonic the Hedgehog. You have a ball in a maze, and rotate the maze with the stylus or shoulder buttons. Get the ball to the end, in the time limit, and YOUR WINNER. Completed all of Training, Beginner, …

Taito Legends

I didn’t even mention that I’d played Midway Arcade Treasures 3 over the weekend. Mainly because it was rubbish. Of all the games on it, only Super Off Road was any good. Tch. So I was somewhat chuffed when Potatio Leg Ends (which arrived today) turned out to be SUPARBEST. It is worth buying just for Bubble Bobble, Rainbow Islands and The New Zealand Story, but then they go and stick another 26 games in there! And they’re not all …
