Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories (PS2)

You know, with “trails” turned off in the graphics options, suddenly everything is a lot better looking. But sadly, still awful. Problems I had today: In one mission, you have to use a fire engine to put out a fire. Controls for the fire engine’s water cannon are circle to fire, and the right stick to aim. So you need two right thumbs. Near the first safehouse you get access to (just south of it, in fact) there’s a motorbike. …

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz (Wii)

I’ve now worked through the first five worlds of the game. Still nothing especially taxing, except for the octopus boss at the end of the 5th world. He was a right pain, as it seemed to be entirely random as to where his tentacles would end up when he landed on the platform you’re on, meaning you can’t avoid being knocked off and into the sea. Anyway, killed him eventually, and moved on…

Mario vs Donkey Kong (GBA)

Rattled through quite a few more levels today, completing up to World 5. Haven’t had too many taxing levels yet, although 4-MM was difficult until I realised that the Mini-Marios would jump a gap if I jumped it first. Until then it was looking pretty impossible. Tch.

Super Princess Peach

Have played all the way through World 7 now, none of which was especially hard. There were quite a few auto-scroll sections, which I don’t like, but nothing too taxing. Onto Bowser’s Castle now. I’ve also unlocked another mini-game, and also bought a load more jigsaw pieces. Haven’t got all of the pieces for any puzzle yet though, and it won’t let me buy any more.

Space Invaders DS

I’m really quite impressed with this game. I’ve managed about 12 stages so far, with Million Invaders being the most taxing. There are about four times as many invaders as usual, all 1/4 of the size. It takes quite a while to kill them all, plus you’ve got more to shoot at you! I found out that getting hiscores on Original mode also unlocks power-ups for New Age mode, so I played that for a bit too. And only managed …

Sega Superstars

Waving my arms around in front of the TV is not something I generally do. Shout and swear at it, yes, but not pretend I’m actually part of a game by doing so. EXCEPT WAIT! I am part of the game! With the Eyetoy, you too can actually be in Virtua Fighter, Puyo Puyo, Super Monkey Ball and other Sega games. Almost. Well, it was fun for a bit anyway. My arms hurt too. Some games work better than others: …
