The new Xbox Dashboard

The new Xbox Dashboard

I don’t like it.¬¨‚Ć Not only because I installed it accidentally, but also because it keeps freezing and the Marketplace is broken.¬¨‚Ć And I can’t find anything. And so much just seems pointless.

I’m not saying the old dashboard was perfect, as it wasn’t. But this is bad in a different way.

Thankfully, the install-to-hard-drive option makes the pain more bearable. It really speeds up the loading times on Fallout 3, and reports are saying that the difference it makes to Oblivion is amazing. So that sounds great for when I go back and play that.

And the Miis are rubbish. Somehow, even though they’re more lifelike than those on the Wii, they look less human. More like mannequins and less like little people. Or something.¬¨‚Ć Here’s me to prove the point:

See? Rubbish. None of the hair colours match mine. None of the styles match mine. My beard is wrong. My mouth is in the wrong place. There are very few clothing options. And it’s impossible to make a character that doesn’t look like a woman – beard or no beard.

In other avatard news, I got a reply back from Microsoft Technical Support:

Thank you for contacting Microsoft online support for XBOX. I am Ziph and I will be helping you today with your concern.

As I understand that you already have Miis on your Wii and you want to use it on your Xbox 360 console.

I know how disappointing it is but only avatar available on the console can be use on the Xbox 360

I was hoping for more than that. Bah.
