The Simpsons Game (360)

I bought this yesterday, in a deal where I got this and Mass Effect for £22.50, which was pretty good. It’s also the only thing I’ve played (so far) this weekend. First of all, I should point out that as a game, it’s nothing new. It suffers from the same irritations as most cheap and crap platformers (wonky camera, dodgy controls, item collection, and so on). However, it knows this. It even takes the michael out of itself as a …

What in the name of all that is furry?

I just caught this while flicking channels. It’s some Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon which I’ve not seen before, and stars these two badly designed freaks alongside Sonic himself. Sonic who plays guitar. And the worst least scary baddie ever. And the channel it’s on – Pop, which I’ve never heard of – appears to have an annual budget of 17 pence. Amazing scenes.

Sega Superstars Tennis

Imagine a game like, ooh, Mario Tennis. Only instead of fantastic characters from the world of Nintendo, you have all those “great” characters from the world of Sega. Like Sonic the Hedgehog. And, erm, lots of rubbish furry things from Sonic games. And a monkey! In fact, two monkeys! And Ulala. Amazing. Veedayoh:

The art of ignoring video games

If you know me, or if you read this blog, or monitor my Usenet and forum posts, then you’ll know I buy a lot of games. Like, loads. I play a lot too: most days I put in an hour or so, longer at the weekend. This may appear to be a very long time to non-gamers, but you have to consider how much time I don’t spend watching TV, which is far more passive and couch potatoey. One look …

Assorted Games (Wii)

I went and picked up my Wii this morning, and so much of the day has been spent playing on it. The verdict? It’s ACES. Firstly, I played Wii Sports and had a go with the baseball, tennis and boxing games. They’re all pretty good, but boxing is sheer genius. You use the remote and the nunchuk as boxing gloves and actually punch and block with them. Amazing. Had a few goes on the bowling game then, and lost to …

Mawashite Koron (DS)

Supposedly, this is a sequel-of-sorts to Cameltry on the SNES and in the arcade. I’ve never played it, so I don’t know how it compares. It’s sort of like a cross between a 2D Super Monkey Ball and the special stages from Sonic the Hedgehog. You have a ball in a maze, and rotate the maze with the stylus or shoulder buttons. Get the ball to the end, in the time limit, and YOUR WINNER. Completed all of Training, Beginner, …
