Needed: a Kettle with a Progress Bar

Needed: a Kettle with a Progress Bar

I had an AMAZING idea this morning. You know kettles, right? They’re great, aren’t they? Thing is, you don’t know how long they take to boil – unless you time it or something.

Imagine if they had a computer-style progress bar on them! Wouldn’t that be fantastic? You’d never more have to guess how long left before you have a coffee! You’d know if you still had time to nip to the loo or not! You’d be able to manage your time in the office so much more effectively!

It’s an idea to change the world, and no mistake.

Here’s how it might look:

The green bit is the progress bar. Looks like this kettle is 80% boiled!

I’ve already started the ball rolling to get this product made. I suggested it to ThinkGeek – merchants of IT nonsense and geek tat extraordinaires.

Here’s hoping!

  1. I don’t know about progress bar, but actually a kettle with a visible thermometer would make a lot of sense -and there’s no reason why it wouldn’t be immediately possible.
Water boils at 100 degrees, so it’s much the same as a progress bar anyway. I suppose a kind of progress bar could be made using the current temperature, but that wouldn’t necessarily indicate how long more it would be boiling for since I imagine it would boil quicker towards the end. Still, I suppose it would be a progress bar. 🙂
