Let’s Play! Eskimo Capers

T’other week I wrote a little about the Sega arcade game Pengo, and mentioned about how there was a Spectrum game that cloned it although back then I saw it the other way round. Well, that game was Eskimo Capers (not “Bouncing Berty in Eskimo Capers”, as I thought for many years and talked about last time), which I present to you today.

Eskimo Capers

Like Pengo, the aim is to line up the uncharacteristically red blocks of ice (perhaps they’re frozen blood blocks?) either horizontally or vertically, while avoiding the baddies – that you can squish by pushing ice into them. Each time you squish one, an egg at the bottom of the screen is removed. Get rid of all the eggs, and the baddies stop respawning, and get rid of all the baddies and you complete the level in an alternate way!

Controls: Awkward, to say the least. The game itself will fill you in.

The emulator used is Qaop/JS – a rather spiffy HTML5 Spectrum emulator.
