Firefly

Well duh. You’re supposed to collect the fried egg things first, and then you can get into the gun thingy much more easily. And you get energy back that way too. Note to self: Next time, read the instructions.

Firefly

The rllmuk forums have suggested this Spectrum game as a game to play this month. Oh dear. I’m a bit pants at it. I’ve figured out how to teleport, and how to kill the gun placement wotsits, but the guns keep firing at you as you try and get inside them (like you need to do) and my energy drops and then I die. How, exactly, are you supposed to do it?

Viewtiful Joe 2

I bought this about ten million years ago, and got a natty little weeble-clock thing with it. And then, I didn’t play it. Even though I really liked the first game. Anyway. This one is MUCH easier than the first game. So far, at least. I’m played through on Kids mode, as experience on the first Viewtiful Joe proved to me that Adults mode is impossible. I don’t think all that many people managed the original on Adults mode either, …

Manhunt: MANAGED!

Had a few hours play on this today, and, although the storyline improved from pointless killing to killing for a reason, the mechanics of the game didn’t, really. There was some killing in a factory, then some killing in a lunatic asylum, then some killing in a prison, then some killing outside a prison. Then, killing in a street, killing in an apartment, killing on the Subway, killing on a railway sidings, then some killing in a big mansion. Then …

Manhunt

More of the same, it seems. They’d captured my family and tied them up in a zoo, so I had to rescue them. If I was seen, they’d be killed. Things were made somewhat easier by the use of a tranquiliser gun I “found”, which allowed me to drop baddies from a distance before walking up, loud as I liked, and butchering them as they slept. Yes, it is a lovely game.

Astro Boy: Omega Factor

This was cheap at Evil Game at the weekend, so I bought it. Yes, I am weak. Again. But it’s great! Platformy without much in the way of platforms, shooty but not really a shooter, and fighty but not a beat ’em up. Up to level 2-4 so far, after beating up some bees and spiders, and a giant metal spider, and some other baddies, and a horse, duck and a rabbit in a tyre, and a soldier who can …

Timesplitters: Future Perfect: PERFECTED!

Yes indeed! Worked my way through the final four or five chapters, with a robot in tow for much of the way. Which was handy, since he killed more baddies than I did because I’m cowardly. Highlights included driving a tank with your future self as gunner (then swapping over), taking remote control of a giant Mech, destroying a giant Mech, taking out Jakob Crow in his bizarre part-man, part-machine, part-Timesplitter guise, and doing some other things which are spoilers. …

Duck Hunt

Yes, the 72-in-1 has a light gun, and Duck Hunt is one of the built in games! It’s a lot easier than I remember, though, managing to get to Round 22-ish, with a score of over 560,000 on my first go. I only missed three ducks in total, and by Round 22 you can’t miss any. And I did.

Eternal Darkness

Hmm. I’m stuck. Already. I managed to find my way “into” the second chapter easily enough, but no sooner had I begun, I became stuck. I’ve rearranged the way some candles are lit, killed some baddies, and now have nothing left I can try. A door opened partially, but I can’t get through it. None of my items do anything useful, and I can’t do anything else with candles as I don’t get any options to try anything. Bah.

Nanosaur 2

What? You mean my swanky new Apple Mac mini has games on it? Cripes! You’re right! Nanosaur 2, installed by default on the hard drive and tucked away under Applications, is crap. Yes, free. Yes, a game on the Mac. Yes, it has DINOSAURS with GUNS. Sadly, it’s still crap. Flying a pterodactyl around shooting things and collecting spinny things isn’t actually as great as it sounds. Tch.

GTA: San Andreas

Spent a merry hour exploring the area I unlocked yesterday. This game really is rather big, isn’t it? I just wish I could nick a helicopter again now. I’d stolen one before, but I can’t go back and get it now as the airport is shut. Also bumped up my SMG and sawn-off shotgun stats a bit. I should be able to dual-wield the sawn-offs soon enough!

GTA: San Andreas

Managed the “Snail Trail” mission from yesterday on today’s first attempt. I figured out the “happy medium” between tailing too close, and losing the reporter in the distance. I’m not sure why I was given a sniper rifle to bump him and his informant off, though, since a sword was just as effective. I then spent a merry half an hour knocking my pistol, shotgun and SMG sk1llz up. I can now dual-wield pistols! John Woo would be impressed.
