Saints Row (360)

Spent about 20 minutes car collecting when I first started playing today. I now have about 60 cars in my garage (including a SWAT van, a load of Five-Os and a couple of ambulances), which gained me the “50 cars owned” achievement. I then went and bought all the clothes I could find (which wasn’t really very much), and then went back to doing Mayhem missions. Which were fun, as always. After that, I decided to play online for a …

Saints Row (360)

To start with, I thought there was a VK mission available, but it turned out to be a Los Carnales mission instead. I started it accidently, then saved, quit, and reloaded the game. And lo, the Vice Kings mission marker appeared. Bizarre! I had a go, but it’s too hard. You have to drive along with a guy hanging out of the window to scare him, but you soon get three stars and the SWAT after you, and your car …

Saints Row (360)

Cleared all of the Vice Kings’ strongholds, and completed a couple of “pushbacks”, which all left me with just one area of the map still “owned” by the VKs. I tried going in there with a couple of homies and starting a war, but there just weren’t enough Vice Kings around to keep the war going. I still don’t have any more of the Vice Kings missions open either, so it looks like I’ve hit a dead end there. Time …

Saints Row (360)

I’m still working on the Vice Kings missions, with some other activities thrown in for good measure. I really like the Insurance Fraud ones, which are especially easy with a SWAT van! I seem to have run out of Vice Kings missions now, actually. There are some crown markers on the map (all denoting strongholds), but no actual missions. Odd. I expected at least one more. Roamed the map for a bit, started a car stealing activity, and then went …

Saints Row (360)

Played quite a bit more of this today. I was mosting completing things on the Vice Kings mission line, including blowing up a recording studio, taking over some “hoods”, and racking up my money and “rep” by doing side activities. The best of these activities that I’ve tried so far is the Insurance Fraud one. You have to throw yourself under cars to claim money on your insurance. Of course, trying to bounce yourself off the bonnets of several cars, …

Saints Row (360)

Started playing this today. Completed enough of the first missions to open up the Vice Kings missions, which I’ve made a start on. Also took part in several side “activities”, such as Snatch, in order to get my respect bar up – you need to do that in order to open up more main missions. So far it’s pretty good, although it isn’t as great as San Andreas. It doesn’t have bikes. Or helicopters (yet, at least), fire engines, or …

Saints Row (Demo) (360)

Had another short play on this, but didn’t do anything constructive. Overall, I’m quite disappointed with it. The main thing it lacks over GTA (and there’s no way to talk about Saints Row without mentioning GTA), in my opinion, is bikes. I loved the bikes in That Other Series, and since Saints Row doesn’t have any, I’m not enjoying it as much. That said, the combat is a lot better, and the number of things you can just kick around …

Saints Row (Demo) (360)

Had another stab at this demo for a bit, and enjoyed standing on the roof of a moving car shooting at pedestrians. ACE. I also shot a plastic surgeon in the face (another Jack Thompson moment) and generally just explored a bit. I’m slightly disappointed that there isn’t more to do (although it is only a demo), but VERY disappointed there don’t seen to be any motorbikes. Bah.

Saints Row (Demo) (360)

Oh my. This isn’t like Grand Theft Auto at all, is it? I mean, not only does it look like it, and have similar controls, and gangs, and carjacking, and map and all that, but it even feels like it. That isn’t a bad thing, of course. I played for 20 minutes or so and had a great time kicking innocent women to death, driving cars into the sea, and booting rubbish around the roads. And then I picked up …

The Problems with Grand Theft Auto IV

GTA IV arrived yesterday, and I was actually quite excited about playing it. Before it came out, I wasn’t all that fussed, actually, and was prepared to wait until it hit less than ¬¨¬£25 (because I won’t pay more than ¬¨¬£25 for a game), regardless how long that was. As it turned out, it was just one day. Since ordering it, my excitement did build a bit, and I was really looking forward to it. Sadly, I feel a bit …

I am weak, part 43

I wasn’t going to buy this. It didn’t interest me as much as previous GTA games, or as much as Saints Row 2, but then I saw I could get it for 22 quid at Play-Asia and, well… Weakness. At least I didn’t break the ¬¨¬£25 Rule, I suppose. It arrived today. Yay!

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories (PS2)

Or rather, Vice City Stories of Blur and Brown. The game looks horrific. I mean, Canis Canem Edit didn’t look great, but this? Awful. It’s like someone took the original Vice City and smeared it with dirty hands. I suppose that’s what you get for porting a PSP game back to the PS2. Anyway. So I’m Vic Vance, Lance Vance’s (from the original) brother, and this seems to be set a while before the original. I’m a corporal in the …
