Lumines Live (360)

Achievement GET! Which is amazing as they’re a bit bloody hard in this game. I finally managed to complete one ‘loop’ of Base mode, scoring about 180,000 points. Somehow, this puts me at the top of my friends leaderboard and 141st in the world. Um, how?

Lumines Live! (360)

Is it actually possible to get one complete cycle of Base mode? I think not. I had a bloody good go at it, and beat all my previous high scores, but still didn’t manage to complete a full “loop”. Then I played Advance Mode, and managed to get far enough in to break 100,000 points, and also unlock three new skins. After that, I played Heavenly Star (I think it’s called that, anyway) for a while until I died.

Lumines Live (360)

I downloaded all the expansions for this yesterday, and had a go with some today. Firstly, was the new Heavenly skin thing, which was nice but as it was just one skin, it kept looping over and over and I got a bit fed up with it. Then I tried Advanced Mode, which seemed easier than Base, although I didn’t get anywhere near the high score I had on Base. Then I tried Base again, and unlocked two more skins, …

Lumines Live (360)

Got further than ever before on Base mode, getting as far as a new skin, but only managing 60,000-ish points. How on earth you’re supposed to get half a million, I have no idea. I then played Time Attack, and got the 150 (actually, 181) in 300 seconds achievement, and managed 299 for the 300 in 600 seconds one. Not happy there! Grr.

Lumines Live (360)

Well. I thought I’d try to get a few more achievements, starting with the “clear a round of Base in Challenge Mode”. So I cleared a round (which I must have done before too), and nothing. More luck was had with the 150 Second Time Attack one, as I got it on my first attempt! Aces.

Lumines Live (360)

Still no joy with actually getting a decent score. I have improved even further, but I’m still miles away from the quarter of a million needed for the next achievement. Managed to get past the skin I normally die on, but didn’t last very long on the one after it.

Lumines Live (360)

Bah. I’m still rubbish at this. Managed to get my score up to about 40,000, but that’s nowhere near what I need for the next achievement (250,000). My current sticking point is the skin with the red-circles-in-green-squares and vice-versa. It makes my eyes cry actual blood.

Lumines Live (360)

New game on Xbox Live Arcade day! Lumines Live is the XBLA version of the PSP game of the (almost) same name. And I’m rubbish at it. I got 5,500 points on my first go, then managed arounf 100,000 on my second. I’ve gained an achievement for that, and another for getting rid of 30 blocks in 60 seconds on Time Attack mode. Had a go at the 180 seconds one, but didn’t even get near the required 90 blocks. …

Things I’ve been playing recently

It’s a been a little while since I posted, so a round-up of recent gaming adventures… Hyrule Warriors (Wii U) Almost 50 hours have been spent on this now. It’s such an addictive game, and considering how few level maps there are (maybe 10?) there’s so much actual game content and variety. With loads of weapons still to unlock, and several characters still mostly unused, never mind a yet-to-be-started Master Quest mode, there’s a lot left to do. Most recently, …

PSP: Second impressions

I’ve now had my PSP for four weeks, so I thought it was time to re-evaluate what I think about it. All six games I wanted for it have now arrived, and I’ve given it a good poking. So, did things improve? The Console My previous comments on this were not very positive. In short, I said it was rubbish. For the most part, I still agree, but there are a few concessions. Firstly, my R button was very sticky, …

PSP: First impressions

As my many loyal fans will know, I’m not really a fan of the PSP. I’m not that gay for Sony in general, actually, for reasons I can’t really be bothered to go into here. Again. So it may come as a surprise to some that yesterday I bought a shiny new PSP. A white Slim and Lite PSP, to be specific. Technically, I didn’t actually pay for it as I traded my (now, annoyingly, fully working) Premium Xbox 360 …
