No, I’m not impressed. Halo and Halo 2 both left me cold, and after several days of Crackdown this just feels slow, clunky and, well, dull. At work, we use WebMarshal to filter internet access so the kiddywinks don’t access porn and games and MySpace and other Internet Evils‚Äö?묢. As well as blocking access, all page requests are logged and anything that hits a filter triggers an email to me. Two more Volk generals down, and loads more Orbs got! In fact, I’ve not maxed out my agility and strength stats, meaning I can jump about a million miles, and lift and throw entire planets. Almost. I’m having problems killing the general in the mines though. If I actually manage to make it into the mine, I’m killed instantly by rockets that juggle me. I can’t see a way of preventing it from happening, either. Bah.
I can while away the hours with a decent solitaire game quite easily. In fact, even relatively poor ones (like the basic Windows one) can hold my attention for a few hands. Urgh. This has aged really badly. The new graphics don’t look quite right, and the game mechanics were superseded long ago by the likes of Final Fight and Streets of Rage, so even with the new lick of paint, Double Dragon is just old and tired. I won’t be buying it.
