Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine (360): COMPLETED!

One of the achievements for the Megadrive Collection on the 360 required the completion of this game. In fact, it’s the only achievement that actually requires you to complete a game. So I completed it. Strangely, Dr Robotnik (or Eggman, as he’s properly called) was actually easier than the three or four preceding opponents, as I beat him first attempt.

Sega Megadrive Ultimate Collection (360)

I could say this is completed, as today I unlocked the last of the achievements. However, it isn’t really a game like that – it’s lots of games, and I only completed one of those – see next post. This really is a great package. Some thoughts on other games I’ve played since Monday on it:Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine (excellent), Decap Attack (amazing), Story of Thor (not as good as Zelda), Fatal Labyrinth (an amazing surprise – never played it …

Sega Megadrive Ultimate Collection (360)

This was a far-too-cheap-to-miss £13 in Asda today, so it was rude not to buy it. So I bought it. It’s a great package, actually. There are 40-odd Megadrive games (all with save-states), and then unlockable other games (like the arcade version of Altered Beast). So far I’ve played Alex Kidd (good), Altered Beast (rubbish as always), Flicky (amazing), Comix Zone (fantastic but bloody hard), Ristar (fiddly), and Columns (not as good as the Master System version).

Lego Batman (360)

I’ve now played through all the Hero missions again, bar three (I think) and got all of the Power Bricks and Minikit bits in them all. Pretty much, anyway. I’m still to work through the rest of the Villain missions though, and I’ve also got 200 achievement points yet to unlock too. I think I’ll get most of them all at the same time, though, once I’ve 100%ed the game. Currently I’m at around 85% done!

Lego Batman (360): COMPLETED!

Of course, I haven’t yet completed it 100%, but I’ve done all the story missions (and got Super Hero/Super Villain on them all) and the two bonus levels. It really is a great game, and so much bigger than Lego Indiana Jones. I do get the feeling some of the suits for Batman and Robin are a bit of a contrived device, and swapping characters and suits in Free Play mode is a bit of a chore as there are …

Peggle (360)

Even though I already have this for the iPod, and I’ve completed it, and this is the same game, and it’s more expensive, and it’s less portable, and it’s the same game, and I said I wasn’t going to buy it… I bought Peggle on XBLA. And? It’s the same game as the iPod one. It even has the same level layouts. But that doesn’t matter, because it’s Peggle and Peggle is aces. So far I’ve only completed the first …

Lego Batman (360)

Yesterday morning, I turned on my 360 and bought some Microsoft Points so I had enough to buy the GTA IV expansion “The Lost and Damned”. I then bought the expansion. Then set about downloading the 1.8GB it takes up. At about 70% through the download, I had to go out to the shops. While I was out, I saw Lego Batman cheap in the shop and bought it. And that’s all I played all weekend. Lost and Damned be …

Miner Dig Deep (360): COMPLETED!

What a great Community Game. It really was a lot lie Diggers, but easier to control and with less resource management. I won’t spoil the end, but basically all you have to do to win is dig to a certain depth and find… something. It ws quite addictive, and the must-collect-everything gameplay was OCD heaven. And for what was what – £1.50? – an absolute bargain.

Miner Dig Deep (360)

My first purchased Community Game! Some guy on rllmuk was going on about it, and he made it sound like Diggers, a game I used to play on the Acorn. Having played the trial of it for a while, I realised that it was, in fact, quite a lot like Diggers. You don’t control diggers like Lemmings, instead having direct control over a single miner. However, most of the other bits of the game are there – mine for ore, …

Fallout 3: Operation Anchorage (360): COMPLETED!

It would appear that the entire Anchorage simulation within Fallout 3 is only about 4 hours long in total. That’s not really a bad thing as such, it’s just I was hoping it might be a little bit longer. Having said that, I enjoyed it despite it not really feeling like Fallout 3 much. It was very linear, heavy on the shooting, and completely different in terms of ammo and health management. Looking forward to the other two planned extra …

Fallout 3: Operation Anchorage (360)

Yes! It’s back to Fallout 3! There was a new expansion recently, called Operation Anchorage, and with Lego Indiana Jones completed, I decided to make a start on it. Once in the game, you get a message saying there’s a radio signal from the Brotherhood Outcasts, and a new marker on the map. Once there, you help them out for a bit, then you’re put in a computer simulator (like the Tranquillity Lane ones), and take part in a recreation …

Lego Indiana Jones (360): COMPLETED!

OK, so I haven’t 100%’d it yet. And I’ve only managed to get 17 of the 18 True Adventurer targets. Strangely, I managed all 17 first go without even trying, whereas the one I missed (“Motorcycle Escape” on Last Crusade) just seems impossible – not least because of all the rocket launcher men that appear right at the end. But I’ll keep playing – at least to get all 18, and I’ll probably go for all the parcels to post …

Lego Indiana Jones (360)

Oh my! Who’d have thought that I’d get some game-time this weekend? Not only did I manage to start this, but I also managed a few minutes on a few demos – Legendary (crap) and Skate 2 (acebest!). I made a start on Lindy yesterday, completing the first two levels of Raiders of the Lost Ark. I was surprised at just how good it was, as I seem to recall the lack of guns (compared to Lego Star Wars) was …
