The Loyalty Awards Club
scams, work September 8th. 2008, 10:47amThis appeared in my pigeonhole at work today. I’m assuming it was put there because it mentions computers, and therefore is obviously my responsibility. Anyway, as is always the way with these things, it’s a scam.
The company, TLAC Ltd, at Kemp House, 152-160 City Road, London EC1V 2NX (address included for the benefit of Googlers) appears to offer “thankyou prizes and awards”, not unlike Survey UK. As before, I hunted around on the internet, and found this message on The Guardian’s website.
To cut it short, you ring up a premium rate number to claim your “award”, spending more money on the call than the value of the “prize” you actually receive. Note the footnote for the digital camera (the cheapest of the “prizes”), which states “all electrical items require a payment of ¬¨¬£6.50 which includes insurance and delivery”, thus grabbing more of your cash for rubbish.
So it’s not a “prize” or and “award” – it’s a lottery. A rubbish one at that.

[...] with yesterday’s scam du jour, I was told I’d won an amazing prize! Of course, in order to claim the prize, I’d have [...]

Thank you for the information. I did receive an exact copy, having the same Despacth Code: TA00075.
It is indeed a money grabber.
September 18th, 2008 at 15:23
I also got the exact same letter, and many like it within the last few months from this Amanda Fisher, all from different places/companies.
Biggest money grabber ever.
September 18th, 2008 at 16:28
I got the same thing, sussed out that it would cost at least ¬£12.00 to get my ‘Award’ TA00075 same old despatch code

October 16th, 2008 at 11:12
You know what! i got a letter with the same code TA00075, lol, i think they are just money grabbers like BBC and ITV premium numbers. thanks for publishing on the net. googling is so useful, isn’t?
October 16th, 2008 at 22:22

October 20th, 2008 at 16:03
<Thanks for the warning I was caught out the first time never thought to check it out it came in an order I had sent
the award was silver jewelry which I never received just had another one with my order from studio but had the sense to check it out this time same award number as all the above why can’t something be done by the law . After all it is a con.
October 21st, 2008 at 23:05
I received this letter last August with my Kaleidoscope Catalogue, so I assumed it was genuine. I made the phone call and, guess what, I was told I had won a digital camera. I sent for it, but never received it.
Is there any official body I can complain to, as the phone call cost me nearly £10, and I was assured I had won the camera? Surely this must be fraud?
October 23rd, 2008 at 21:52
my grandma got one of these. it was included with a well known catalogue aimed at the eldery. shame on you daxons for including this with your catalogue. My grandma trusted it because of who sent it but fortuntaley she saved it for me to send before phoning them.
October 29th, 2008 at 00:28
same same I just got exactly same letter and same as all of u decided to go online first glad I did now but mine came with studio cards my advice THROW THIS CON LETTER AWAY as soon as it arrives

I had the same letter this morning in with my studio order, my partner has been on to me all day to ring The loyality Awards Club, as it was too good an opportunity to miss.!!!! I thought i’d check it out on net first, so glad i did
November 3rd, 2008 at 13:28
I got this one with vertbaudet statement. all details same as above. dont bother its a con. they should be stopped, I bet the catalogues are geting paid for these mail junk items being sent out with their statements. it make me mad.
November 10th, 2008 at 17:38
My wife recieved the same as all of you, and guess what same code. This was put in with the Studio catalogue these people should be stopped. They obviously prey on the needy and unsuspecting customer!!!!!!!!!!
November 22nd, 2008 at 15:33
As a customer of Simply Be and Studio Cards, I get one of these every time I receive a catalogue or statement. These catalogue companies should not allow these scammers to use them as their mailing agents. Although it says “independent promotion” at the top of the letter, a lot of people possibly don’t put two and two together, you’re right Clive, they prey on the needy and unsuspecting. How can we stop this??
November 30th, 2008 at 19:59
I am very annoyed with Studio. I agree with last comment made about Studio. I beleive there are a lot of Studio customers using this promotion award scam. I think Studio should take some resposibility for the advertisements they send to there customers. I will be contacting Studio with this complaint.
December 1st, 2008 at 14:31
Just received the voucher with Despatch Code TA00075. this was included in a parcel of goods from VERTBAUDET who put children first.
Needless to say we will not be making the call or using VERTBAUDET again.
Thanks for the warning.
Regards
B Armstrong.
December 3rd, 2008 at 16:42
I’ve received the same letter(same despatch code) with my VERTBAUDET order.Luckily I’ve checked your comments. What a rip off!!!!!I guess the world is getting mad if there is nothing that can be done about it.
December 3rd, 2008 at 18:18
Studio again!!!Yes same thing happened to me, same code TA00075 same prize digital camera. I was a mug and phoned the premium rate number. God knows how much that will cost???
I live in Weston-super-Mare, and thats where i have to send the reply too…..These catalogue companies should be held to account and made responsible for there customers misfortune.. Then there is a saying if it sounds to good to be true then it probably is, and you never get nothing for nothing..Everything has a price!!
I just wish i checked this site before being conned..!!
December 4th, 2008 at 17:01
My letter was also from Studio. I would phone them to complain but you get put through to Bangalore or Delhi or Dhaka or somewhere similar so I hardly think I’d get any joy from “Albert” or whichever typical English named person I happen to speak to.
I am so glad you posted this and I thought to check before phoning.
December 4th, 2008 at 17:02
Same despatch Code too TA00075
December 10th, 2008 at 20:50
Same despatch code and also from Studio.
I will be contacting Studio with my thoughts!!
I imagine that they will lose a lot of custom with a stunt like this.
December 12th, 2008 at 07:51
I got the same letter with my Freemans Catalogue. Did Google and found this so really glad I did. One big scam. Surprised that the mail order services are not aware of this.
December 15th, 2008 at 16:47
I got same letter with same despatch code:TA00075 with my Freeman’s Catalogue. But first I thought that I need to check on internet first and I found your comments. Thanks guys, you saved my money, because I was really tempted to phone.
December 17th, 2008 at 23:30

December 23rd, 2008 at 12:11
I got the letter with the same code TA00075 today with my Vertbaudet order. Was rather suspicious and googled this. Thanks for highlighting this con!
January 6th, 2009 at 15:34
Oh NO!!!! I just phoned, got the digital camera, and only came on line to see what sort of camera it was before i sent off my 6 quid for the ‘insurance’.. In the back of my head I was sure there was something odd going on!!!! What a mug I am! Redoute sent this one. Can we do anything to stop this?
January 6th, 2009 at 15:42
mojokings: I have no idea, but if it does arrive, I’d love to hear about what you got!
January 10th, 2009 at 14:14
Guess what I have a unique code of TA00055 what a surprise. Got it from Look Again
January 10th, 2009 at 14:29

January 10th, 2009 at 14:40
i have had many of these letters same Unique code! TA00075
What a load of Rubbish!
January 10th, 2009 at 18:36
Hi. I had the same code TA00075 from Studio. I did not think checking on the net first and I ended up calling the premium rate number from which I revieved the claim number. Now that I have already used up nearly £10 I am just going to send the claim form.
As you all know, I have won the digital camera (obviously), but please can someone tell me whether I will have to send £6.50 (insurance and delivery charge) with the claim form now or once I recieve the item.
Has anyone even recieved the item they won. Thanks.
January 17th, 2009 at 12:26
Hi, I received TA00075 and what is disappointing is that it came in an envelope amongst various other offers (genuine ones)from a reputable mail order company – it would be nice if they didn’t encourage this sort of thing wouldn’t it. Thank you everyone for posting to this site, my copy of the letter will now go into my re-cycling bin.
January 22nd, 2009 at 19:01
I too received the same letter, with same despatch code. I received it with other papers from La Redoute catalogue. Shame on them.
January 23rd, 2009 at 09:42
Can’t believe this. I thought it would be a scam to be honest, so decided to check on line but its shocking how many people have actually rang the line. I got mine with La Redoute catalogue too. It did cross my mind, what if it’s real but like some1 said earlied. You get nothing for nothing… these people must be stopped.
January 23rd, 2009 at 13:32
thankgod i googled this. I was gonna be a mug and ring that number. You saved me from the scammers. I got my letter today with my vertbaudet order. And yes i have the same dispatch code too TA00075
January 28th, 2009 at 17:51
Same letter arrived within a package from Freemans…
Do these catalouges not realise what goes into the packages they send out….My wife showed the letter to me from the scammers it is the very same from the address to the signature even the dispatch code….
Thank you for the warning…..
February 5th, 2009 at 14:05
Hehe, well if they can con us. We can con them.
I sent off for the claim, in an envelope without a stamp. Because they’re so desperate for my 6.50 they sent me back an envelope, with someones scruffy handwriting on. It had a slim piece of paper, which had my personal claim verification number as 55XY inside it. Obviously the TA00075 bit was the same and it said “= Digital Camera”
This slim piece of paper, was just printed off on a normal printer.
So ive decided to re-create it, slightly change the “TA00075 = Digital Camera” to “TA00093 = ¬£5000 Cash”
Then im going to send it off, with a stamp that costs me 36p. Because 36p, is well worth making that someone think oh s***!
And not only would i get a decent prize(its possible), but i wouldnt have to pay the £6.50 charge for insurance and delivery. Ha Ha Ha Ha (The letter says All Electrical Items require a payment of £6.50.
Mines not electrical, mines paper. Ner Ner.
I doubt it will work.
But hey, they pee us off, lets pee them off.
Peace Out Guys
February 5th, 2009 at 14:10
Well I received 2 of these letters from La Redoute catalogue in the space of 2 days. You won’t be at all surprised that they both have the ‘LUCKY CODE’ ‘TA00075′. I’m so glad this link came up when I googled to check out the code.
February 9th, 2009 at 13:38
Hi, got one of these today…what a load of rubbish. These people need locking up!
February 13th, 2009 at 12:08
Thanks for the info. I got this letter with my La Redoute catalogue. I wonder if they are aware that it’s a scam ‘cos it makes them look dodgy too.
February 19th, 2009 at 16:38
thank goodness for this site. just to let people know that they are at it again, i have just received the exact same letter with my Vertbadet statement. i always thought they were a reputable company, and would check out and direct mail that they would send out with their name behind it. obviousley not!!!
February 26th, 2009 at 22:11
La Redoute is a hustler’s helper. Stop buying things from them. I recieved this paper from them as well. I cancelled my account and im not buying things from them anymore.
February 27th, 2009 at 05:57
Thank you very much! I got the same with my clothes from LaRedoute and I believed in this crap! You saved me from being cheated and feeling a stupid dupe!
March 4th, 2009 at 14:00
Received mine today through Vertbaudet..the scam was too good to be true.. Now am really interested in AZ’s experiment… Any more progress on it?
March 6th, 2009 at 13:04
The Guardian published this in 2006.. maybe they have more info?
The Advertising Standards Authority upheld complaints this week against The Winners Club.
It concluded the presentation of a prize award was “misleading”, with many people receiving awards that were “not significantly greater in value that the premium rate phone call”.
Capital Letters criticised a “prize offering” from The Loyalty Awards Club on July 8. Both TLAC and Winners are creations of stock market listed Invox.

I have emailed Daxon about this scam which arrived with goods I had purchased from them. They have replied that I will not receive any further ‘offers’ from other companies but seemed to be unable to assure me that no-one else will receive this misleading literature. Unless they are able to do so, I will not be using them again or any of the other companies named on this site.
If the ‘Guardian’ reported on this in 2006, why has nothing been done about stopping it?
March 19th, 2009 at 14:28
I have just recieved the letter along with verbaudet statement with the same code TA00075 to claim the prize and was too suspicious so i found this info. thank you people for saving me fortune.
March 19th, 2009 at 22:28
Yep same old letter and code came my way. So glad I checked the internet first. Would love to know if anyone actually wins anything else other than the cheap old digital camera. I think its disgusting well established mail catalogue companies allow this sort of scam to be sent out with their goods.
March 23rd, 2009 at 11:34
I was so sure this was real, untill I looked up LTAC. thanks people…..oh I too got the same code (TA00075) talk about lazy…!!

March 23rd, 2009 at 13:56
Mine came with my Sky monthly mag this morning. On the back was a form to send (‘with loose 1st class stamp’)in case I didn’t want to phone! And yes, the code was TA00075. Are they getting desperate?
March 23rd, 2009 at 14:19
Today, I too received my “prize letter”. Having had family members scammed in addition I was not aware of signing up to the TLAC, thought that I better research the company. My intuition was to disbelieve the offer – it seems that I was right. Thank you for this blog. It has saved me a small fortune.
By the way, this came through a reputable company magazine.
March 23rd, 2009 at 15:16
I also received this with my SKY magazine.
I have forwarded this to the BBC Watchdog team by post.
March 23rd, 2009 at 15:24
I too got one this morning with my SKY magazine. SHAME ON YOU SKY!!
I have emailed BBC Watchdog,if everyone does that maybe we can rid the world of these scammers and make the world a safer place (for your wallet!!)
March 23rd, 2009 at 16:13
23-3-09 recieved this as well today with sky mag what a con sky should stop sending this crap out with mag.
March 23rd, 2009 at 21:00
Yup, got one in my monthly (March 09) Sky Magazine of all places. Despatch Code: TA00075 from Amanda Fisher.
March 23rd, 2009 at 21:59
Got the same from Amanda Fisher – think it should really be Phisher! LOL
From Sky Mag, would have expected better from Sky
March 24th, 2009 at 13:58
I see that the scam goes on. I got a letter like this with the same code yesterday included in my Sky Magazine. I am glad I thought of checking it with Google!
March 24th, 2009 at 14:42
Same here, got one with my sky magazine march, TA00075
March 24th, 2009 at 22:56
Got the same letter with sky magazine march. TA00075.
March 25th, 2009 at 19:10
So now sky have made them there partners. Pathetic. When are we going to see an end to this. There are watchdogs such as Ofcom who monitor TV contents and so where are the ones who monitor scam competitions like this!!!
March 25th, 2009 at 21:59
Every comment above since my last entry relates to a SKY mailing. Can I encourage you all to email BBC watchdog. Lets see what can be done about this?!
March 26th, 2009 at 18:10
Got mine with ref TA00075 and came with my SKY magzine. So they can fiddle with anyone!!! Needless to say mine has been perfectly filed in my shredder
March 28th, 2009 at 17:16
Same problem, letter from this apparent scaming company in with the Sky mag same Number TA00075.
As I wright this I am talking with Sky.
They will not, or can not do anything about this and will not discuss it. Have been with Sky over 10 years, there customer service is as always. S— ? Will drop Sky and transfer to Virgin 1. This threat made to them did not even cause a ripple. Suggest everybody do the same now that Sky are apparently allowing there name to support a bogus prize draw.
April 2nd, 2009 at 22:32
Same here, got this in the Sky mag pack. Sky should be held accountable for this!
April 3rd, 2009 at 14:00
Shocking!! so glad I googled first.
same code, letter came with VERTBAUDET from France.
April 8th, 2009 at 11:53
Just received an order from Freemans catalogue.Inside parcel was a letter from Amanda Fisher & yes guess what my code was TA00075!! I think its a disgrace that Freemans are involving themslves with a scam like this. Was tempted to ring, thankgoodness I googled to check it out.
April 10th, 2009 at 14:59
I r’cd an order from Vertbaudet today inside was the same letter. Why are these companies allowing this to happen and what can we do about it? I am going to contact verbaudet and make a complaint.
April 21st, 2009 at 08:00
Really…glad I checked out them by google and so fed up that this stuff can be sent in with mail order parcels..perhaps those company’s get paid to put them in. Anyways just do not respond there shpould be a legistion law to stop these.
April 21st, 2009 at 10:40
Sorry I didn’t check the web before as I normally do. This letter was different from the ones I’ve received before so thought it might possibly be genuine and figured if it was a decent camera it would be okay. I forgot to check the number of cameras first cause then my suspicions would have been confirmed that it was some cheap useless camera.
I like Az’s (Feb 5th posting)suggestion/prank! Would love to know if it’s borne any fruit yet. LOL! Go Az!
April 21st, 2009 at 14:21
i just received one with freemans package same code as the rest of you TA00075, so glad i check out before i rang would be good to ban maybe we could get watchdog onto it!!!
April 25th, 2009 at 18:23
Just received same code TA00075 with a Freemans order. I’m sending it back with no stamp on, and closing my account with Freemans. What wallies! But I wonder how many people are being taken in by this scam – warn all your contacts immediately.
April 30th, 2009 at 14:59
I have also received this letter with a weekend magazine along with the Unclaimed Prize Register. I got 24 of my colleagues to claim and quess what both companies awarded all of us a ‘digital camera’ thats 48 cameras no decent prizes.
May 1st, 2009 at 12:02
Isn’t the internet a wonderful thing? Thanks to all of you who posted before myself about this con. Mine came with a goods delivery from Freemans. You would think they would know better. I will be complaining to them. Cheers everyone!
May 12th, 2009 at 16:45
Has anyone had any luck with their complaints. Please post the results.
May 19th, 2009 at 19:43
Indeed!
“Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free!” John 8:32
June 3rd, 2009 at 16:27
I’ve just got one of these today, same code as everyone else. I was so tempted to ring it because we need a new tv badly, and I was sat there reading it over and over again thinking ‘what if?’. So glad I checked online, I’m disgusted with ace catalogue as this came with my order.
June 9th, 2009 at 15:17
I too have received the very same number 75, the worrying thing about my letter as Jbeen said I too was tempted as it came within a parcel from Grattan so I shall be asking them why they are promoting such a scam.
June 17th, 2009 at 12:12
For all of us who has realised this is just a con how many people actually make the phone call at ¬£1.50 per minute..Maximum 6 mins… Glad I checked first, thanks
June 17th, 2009 at 15:33
OMG I ALMOST made the phone call but thought I’d Google it first…so glad I did. I got mine with Studio and was convinced it was real (dumb I know) as I didnt think a reputable company like Studio wouldn’t send out such scams. I’m gonna do what Az posted on the 5th Feb hahahahaha!!!
June 23rd, 2009 at 21:34
My mum received the standard TLAC letter – yes you guesssed, despatch code TA00075, with her Easy Life magazine luckily she mentioned this to me before she made the phone call.
June 25th, 2009 at 09:08
Thanks for this. Googling makes it easy to find out where the rubbish is these days, doesn’t it? I got the code TA00075 too. Thing is, we’re all saying it’s a scam but sadly it is legally OK because they spell out that you are most likely to get the digital camera and they know that most people won’t bother claiming because they will know it’s a cheap rubbish camera by that time and not worth the P&P money they are being asked for. It is as someone earlier pointed out a lottery, as I’m sure one person out there will be allotted the 5k but the irony is that I bet 99% of these letters end up i the bin [where mine is going right now]and I bet that’s where teh 5k one has gone.
June 27th, 2009 at 08:37
My wife fell for this scam a few months ago,I was not pleased.
I asked her why should anyone want to give us £5000 for nothing.
We had a small delivery from Freemans today, and, yes another invite to phone them up at premium rates.
Best leave this scam alone…Les
June 27th, 2009 at 08:41
Oh! yes I must add my number is also TA00075…Les
June 28th, 2009 at 16:50
My elderly Mum got this the other day; not sure where from, but thankfully she gave it to me – guess what TA00075! What if everyone sent the letter back + one more item of junk mail (sure everyone’s got enough of that) to the registered office EC1V 2NX. This looks like a paid mailbox, so hopefully this would cost Winners Club something extra. As an initial offer, I’m sending them some leaflets today for car insurance AND double glazing AND gym membership and will put 2nd class stamp on so it all gets delivered – worth it!
July 3rd, 2009 at 12:50

My wife received one of Amanda Fisher’s letters with a Daxon order and we made the phone call lo and behold the code was TA00075.Unfortunately we had not seen this blog, I phoned the “Customer Service” number and got an answering machine ‘leave your name and number we will call back’ needless to say no return call.I now have three of these letters and will be writing to Daxon informing them that they are party to a great big scam. All future award letters will be returned unstamped to the senders.

November 13th, 2009 at 11:58
I recieved a letter with my studio statement, from TLAC,sayin i had won one of the thank you prizes listed. My husband wasnt happy about me going to ring it at £1.50 per min, sayin it was a con.So i decided to google it instead. I could not believe it when i saw that everyone had the same despatch code as i had-TA00075. Iam so glad my hubby didnt want me to ring,we would of had a big phone bill and nothing to show for it.But when its nearly x-mas and you have 3 young children, the chance of winning a bit of cash is a dream. I cant believe how they can do that, wot a con and thanks to everyone who has spoke up about it.
November 13th, 2009 at 12:33
Sooo glad i checked this online.. seems im not the only one with despatch code TA00075, i cant believe studio sends this out with their orders, they must get paid or something.
as studio is a reputable company i can see how people would think it was genuine.
its what they say.. if its too good to be true… it usually is… !
November 13th, 2009 at 17:59
Im so GLAD i checked this web site before waisting my money on silly little scams like this .

November 30th, 2009 at 10:15
Does anyone know how to get these guys either on their website or by e-mail? It seems that my deceased father-in-law has won a major prize (ha ha!) and I am trying to stop all the junk mail being sent to his address (which is horrendous) to avoid being unable to enter the house due to the pile up of junk pushed through the letter box. If you do, pls mail me at jayne@kabelfoon.net
December 9th, 2009 at 21:45
I thought it was my lucky day , a FREE camcorder!!!!!
December 12th, 2009 at 11:38
My scam letter arrived today courtesy of my home shopping catalogue. Just popping round to the police station to offer them the opportunity to pick up my prize. Suggest others do same. Someone should be able to stop these leeches before they do much more damage to the naieve and vulnerable.
December 14th, 2009 at 22:10
My letter from Amanda Fisher arrived with my order from Ambrose Wilson – am glad I checked this blog before I did something stupid.
December 16th, 2009 at 16:16
I received a letter this morning with a catalogue from shopping direct. I must admit it did sound to good to be true. Someone giving things away for nothing! I am glad I checked first before going ahead. There should be some sort of body monitoring the distribution of things like this. Thanks for the information about this scam.

something should be done. I dont know how much Bt is going to charge me
December 30th, 2009 at 08:49
Yes once again I received the same no:TA00075, this firm is acctually in City Rd as stated as I used to live in the area, now I wish I had gone in there and found out what they are playing at, all our data keeps going to all these addresses so making it illegal and anyone can use our names and addresses.
January 5th, 2010 at 13:57
I am surprised that the ‘big book’ catalogue companies still use these methods. I recall back in the mid to late 1990s that it was commonplace for the likes of Littlewoods and Freemans to use these recruitment mailings, but had always assumed that they had moved with the times and this sort of practice was no longer viable.
January 6th, 2010 at 18:55
[...] most of these refer to the twin scams of The Loyalty Awards Club and Survey UK. The error code (the second highest search) relates to an issue I solved with [...]

I have received a letter with an Award Code 507705 enclosed with the magazine Home Shopping (www.hss.uk.net/hs1001w
Avoid buying from Home Shopping
January 10th, 2010 at 18:49
This is a general thing- it is surprising that mail order catalogues do not weed the inserts they receive- it seems they do not read pages like this. My elderly mum seems to think these letters are genuine- I am always at pains to point out to her this is not the case. As always in these cases, it is the most vunerable in soceity who stand to lose most. There is only one thing to do with these flyers- bin it. Don’t even bother with trading standards- they will just give the same advice.
January 12th, 2010 at 22:39
Thabkyou for the blog, I have received the letter this morning with a parcel from my catalogue company. I actually though it was direct from them. I then double checked the name on the letter and found this. Robbing bastards!
January 18th, 2010 at 17:21
Ordered some knives from a cookery mag and received a nice letter from Amanda Fisher in Ross-on-Wye, Hereford (she certainly gets about a bit) with my order, reference 507705. I will no longer use that company. Thanks for the guidance.
January 18th, 2010 at 20:01

February 22nd, 2010 at 12:57
I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT REPUTABLE COMPANIES INCLUDE THIS “OFFER” WITH THEIR MAILINGS AS HAS HAPPENED TO ME TODAY. I OBVIOUSLY WILL NOT BE CONTACTING THEM.
February 22nd, 2010 at 14:58
Just received a flyer for TLAC in a kitchen equipment mail order cataloque and fortunately, being suspicious, read the small print. This one was a phone call @ £1.50 per min for 6 mins plus £9.95 ‘insurance and delivery’ for electrical items, including the 10,000 MP3 players on offer. I’d ‘definitely won one of the prizes listed’ which was obviously going to be an MP3 player. So if we assume that the cost to them of the MP3 players is the £9.95 they are charging for ‘insurance’ (probably it’s less) that they have to pay the mail order company for placing the flyer (say £5K), that true 2nd class postage for the player is £1, if they had 100% takeup they’d make somewhere around £75K! Not bad! Even with only 25% takeup that would amount to around £19-20K and so still worth doing!
I then did a google search for information about this mob, came across you guys and was so taken by the sheer volume of comment that, though I normally don’t do so, on this occasion I would write something.
Unfortunately I suspect there’s little anyone can do as they are, technically, delivering what they claim in the flyer. The issue is one of morality; it’s up to us, the consumer, to deduce that, whilst free lunches do sometimes come around, you’ve generally first taken an action to expect some sort of reward (Scoop 6, Prizedraw, Lotto etc.). Anything else is probably just wishful thinking with a well concealed price tag!
By the way, they seem to like this code 507705 – mine was the same!

May 14th, 2010 at 16:57
mum got 507705 code this morning with an ambrose wilson order. i told her it was a scam and immediatly phoned ambrose wilson and lied saying that my pensioner mother spent over £9 phoning this place, and they had a duty to protect thier customers etc etc….was told that they would take her off the third party mailing list. i said that wasnt good enough and expected them to refund the £9 odd phone call money….they said that they couldnt do a refund so i then said that i would take £9 off of the bill my mother owed and that no-one in my family will be buying anything from them again. Was then told that they would refund £5 (dont ask where they plucked that number from) i said this wasnt good enough….they then said i would have to send the phone bill if i wanted the whole £9 so i eventually backtracked and excepted the £5 refund as i could never produce the phone bill…..Maybe i m out of order, but i say serves them right.

GOT THE SAME LETTER TODAY FROM AMANDA FISHER WITH CODE NUMBER 507705 HOPE SHE READS ALL THESE REPLYS AND IS ASHAMED OF HER SELF
May 27th, 2010 at 15:27
How can these people operate and get away with it? The likes of me and you couldn’t, so why are they “immune” ?
July 2nd, 2010 at 18:55
Hi, I also received a letter from Amanda Fisher, award no 507705. I have won £25,000, £250.00 Argos vouchers, MP3 player, New car, £750.00 cash or a TV. When will these people learn that we are not all gullable stupid people and stop wasting their time and ours. So Amanda Fisher you can keep your cheap MP 3 player if it ever existed and hang your head in shame.
July 6th, 2010 at 22:52

Beware everyone!
July 15th, 2010 at 05:32
I received my ‘award’ letter with my Easylife catalogue. Thank God, I too, googled TLAC. I couldn’t sleep so got up to work on my computer – like you do! I started to fill the claim form in to get my award code, then googled TLAC. Guess what my award ‘code’ is! Yup 507705!!! Hey ho! Thanks for saving me the cost of the stamps – I refuse to use premium-rate phonelines. Will tell my friends and make the letter available to Trading Standards. As an older person I feel really stupid because I almost fell for the scam!
August 4th, 2010 at 14:58
I received the above letter exactly the same today, luckily I nearly got caught with a BMW car scam the other day, so went straight to Google.
