Played Adventure Mode again for a while. Managed to reach level 4-5, but then failed. Failed due to my own stupidity too, as I just kept mis-shooting near the end in a bit of a panic, and ended up adding so many balls to the run that I ended up dying. Stupid.
Not a lot to do today, what with no turnips to sell or water, and the flower festival is over (and I won the Green Thumb! Hurrah!) so my garden doesn’t need tending. Spent a while talking to the animals, selling fruit, finding fossils (all of which I already had) and buying everything in Nook’s shop again.
Managed to do the half-pipe level! Hurrah! It seems the trick is to jump repeatedly across the “bottom” of the pipe, which makes you build up speed to make it up the other side. I still couldn’t manage the other two Advanced levels though – the mountain one, and “Schadenfreud” or whatever it’s called. Pah. Went and did a load of Intermediate again to get Par times. I only have two left to do – the spelunking one being one. …
Since I couldn’t play it last night, I set my DS’s clock back to 9pm yesterday so that I could visit K.K. Slider. He played me a song (which I’ve forgotten the name of). I then put the clock right to play some more. No Joan today, as it is still the Flower Festival. That means no turnips. Sold the rest of my turnips today, for only 90 bells each. I’m not too fussed though, as I made such a huge profit already. Planted a few more flowers near my house. I can’t actually plant any more now as there’s no space. Hope I win! A few games online tonight, and bizarrely someone I was playing against knew me from the Nintendo UK forums. Very strange. I didn’t do especially well, but then I had just got back from the pub.
Didn’t play for long this evening due to lack of time, but I did managed to squeeze in a quick session. Enough time to sell about 20,000 bells worth of fruit, plant some more, and water my red turnip. Friga tried to move out too, but I think I’ve convinced her to stay.
With a Tim Miller-theory-beating 67 bells per turnip price in Nook’s today, I was glad to find that new-player Jonathan (in Sundale) had Nook buying for 417 each. I popped over with 1500 of them, making almost half a million bells profit already. I have another 1000 or so to flog, but ran out of time before Jonathan disconnected. Nope. I just can’t do the half-pipey level at all. The game is clearly broken. I did, however, manage to find an easter egg on the very first level when I was trying to improve my times. That gained me 5 gamerpoints and another achievement. Hurrah! I have a gamerscore of 120 now! Ph34r m3. Whilst time-improving, I got thoroughly confused by the leaderboard system. I’m now on Level 59. I have, however, now skipped three levels. The hardest one seems to be the multiple half-pipes level, which I have no idea how to complete – I can’t get over the top of them, and on the one occassion I fluked the first one, I died right afterwards.
Peak turnip bellage today was 110, so I didn’t bother selling. I hope it’s a bit higher than that before the end of the week though, as I fear for my turnips accidently going rotten or some eejit walking off with them when they come to visit. I’m up to Level 51 now, but I’ve had to skip one so far as it’s too hard. I’m now stuck on another. Advanced Mode is too bloody difficult. I’m crying now.
Just 8 levels on Expert (or Advanced, or Chuffing Hard, or whatever the final setting is) completed today. I took almost 10 minutes on one of them, which wasn’t good. Waaaaay off most of the par times. Oh well.
So I downloaded a few more game demos today. First off, was Full Auto, which is very much like Burnout only with guns. And a Prince of Persia-style time-rewind system. It plays nice and all, but it doesn’t look much better than Burnout 3. In fact, in some ways, it’s actually worse visually.
