Magnetica (DS)

It seems my wife has been playing this rather a lot, so many of the Puzzle Mode and Quest Mode levels have been completed already. Of course, you can go back and do them again. So I did some of the earlier quests, tried the “newest” open one (and failed), tried the second Challenge in that mode (and got to level 69/99, rubbish) and completed a few incomplete puzzles in Puzzle Mode. I played them all with my new DS …

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (360)

Played “properly” today, rather than kill everyone in sight. I loaded a pre-slaughter save, you see. So, first task was to visit the woman in the Mystic Archives again, and she told me to come back later. I decided to wait around, and Amusei found me and told me I needed to see the Grey Fox in Cheydenhal. Off I went, and started the next Thieves Guild quest – to find the boots of Springheel Jak. Except he’s dead, and …

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (360)

Another extensive play session today, as shown by my game save’s time of over 64 hours. Again, I did far too much to go into everything, but I managed to gain three ranks in the Mage’s Guild (I’m now a Conjurer), and another rank in the Thieves’ Guild. The Thieves’ Guild task was pretty simple, involving taking a secret passage from Bravil Castle to a tower, to obtain a special arrowhead for the Grey Fox. The passage was partly flooded …

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (360)

I’m now about 31.5 hours in to this huge, huge game. And I still haven’t even scratched the surface. Firstly, I quick-travelled to Imperial City, found the guy with the staff I needed, and brought it back to Bravil. I took it to Kud-Ei at the Mage’s Guild, who has now sent a recommendation to the Arcane University. I wandered around Bravil some more, and found a few items that I wanted to sell. I stupidly jumped off the roof …

Brain Age (DS)

This came today, so it was rude not to have a go. First of all, you have to do a few preliminary tests to give an initial estimate of you “brain age”. It suggested mine had an age of 78. When 20 is good, and higher is bad. Oops. Went ahead and played the training properly, then. There were quick-fire arithmatic questions, a Stroop Test (say the colour of a word, when the word is a colour), and some reading …

Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages

Finally, I figured out that I needed to find Jabu Jabu in the sea. Some time jumping later, to avoid rocks and things that existed in different places in different times, and I found the Zora Village under the sea. Several sub-quests needed to be performed before entering Jabu Jabu’s belly, however. Firstly, the Zora King is sick (in the past) and dead (in the present). Nipping off to find Syrup the witch, I bought some Magic Potion which brought …

Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages

The weapon was a switch-with-things hook hoodilly. So, not really a weapon then, actually. Although you do use it on the end boss in that dungeon, as expected. With that dungeon out of the way, I was sent on a trek through time and, er, place to find bomb flowers to help a Goron elder. Of course, that required a sub-quest, which involved throwing bombs as the Great Moblin who muttered something about me defeating him in Holodrum (which I …

Zoo Keeper

Quest mode is too hard. FACT. I’ve had a few attempts at it, and I’ve managed a whopping 555 points – which, considering 10th place on the hiscore table is 1000, is pants. I do well in several of the challenges, and then get one where I completely mess up, and I lose almost all my points. Boo. If you don’t have a DS, but want to play this ace game, you could always try this link.
