Autorip – “free” music from Amazon

Recently, Amazon launched Autorip. It’s a service that automatically gives you Amazon Cloud based MP3s of any supported album you buy on CD. This is great, in theory, but even better is that they’ve applied the system retrospectively. That means that any CD you have previously bought from them, ever, which is supported by Autorip, will automatically appear in MP3 form in your Amazon Cloud player. Which is fantastic, yes? Yes! Even more so when you realise something else… I …

Explaining the bad thing

The other day I posted a cryptic picture of a bit of an online Asda order, but didn’t explain it. Of course, some of you guessed: I had indeed ordered a 3DS. And two games. Ssshh! It’s a secret to everybody! You (as in, James Luff) may be wondering how I pulled off this cheeky stunt with the £18 Rule in full effect. Well, here’s how. Warning! May contain maths: Base cost of 3DS on Asda’s website: £217 Cost of …

Delivery from Deal Extreme

Have you ever bought anything from Deal Extreme? They’re the internet’s premier provider of shoddy Chinese tat. And quality Chinese tat, of course. Sometimes there are things I need to buy, and they’re the only place I can find it cheap, but then I end up adding other useless junk to the shopping basket while I’m there. A couple of weeks ago, my cheap-and-shoddy iPhone dock (bought from Deal Extreme) died, so I needed another. So back on the site …

Free shiny retro new thing!

After scraping together all my Club Nintendo stars loyalty points at the end of last year (some were due to expire on the 31st of December), I had a look through the Club Nintendo Stars Catalogue for things to spend them all on. Of course, it had to be this: It’s three old Game & Watch games – Oil Panic, Donkey Kong, and Green House – all for the DS. Which is oooh shiny enough in itself, but becomes even …

My Free Wii

(Two Wii posts in one day! It’s like Wii Friday or something!) Remember this? It was the day I bought my Wii.¬¨‚Ć I’d lined up outside Game at half 6 in the morning, and finally – at just after 8am, I had my launch day Wii and was running home as fast as my little legs could carry me. But there was something that happened that day. When I bought my Wii, I paid for it with my credit card. …

Free Graze box!

We got a Graze box today. It’s a delivery of three lots of fruit, nuts, seeds, dried stuff, and that sort of thing. And very nice it was too! The idea is you order these boxes, and they pick stuff you like (or want to try) to go in them. They then deliver them in time for lunch. Anyway, with our box we got a code to share with others to net them a free box too!¬¨‚Ć Normally, they’re ¬¨¬£2.99, …

Bargainous Ace Attorney: Apollo Justice

The “new Phoenix Wright game”, Apollo Justice, is due out for Western DS gamers on the 12th February. Unlike the previous three titles, the Japanese version didn’t have an English language option, so those of us gagging for more courtroom “action” have had to wait. But the wait is nearly over! And, so sweeten the deal a bit, Play Asia have it up for pre-order for the bargain price of just ¬¨¬£16! Take That!

More gadget wantage

A while ago, I found out about the HTC Athena (eventually sold as the HTC Advantage). It’s a large PDA with a mini-laptop air about it. There was no way I was going to buy one, as they were ¬¨¬£750 or something. But now, I’ve seen the Asus EeePC.It’s a thing of wonder and beauty. Yes, it’s a little larger than the HTC, and no, it’s not a phone as well. But it is a lovely 7″-screened, DS Lite-alike mini-laptop. …
