Game Over, Yeah!! updates

Did I mention a while ago that I had a new section on my website? I launched a project I’m calling “Game Over, Yeah!!“, with the premise being I play a game until I lose my first life. Of course, I record it and then upload it for you all to “enjoy”. Well, since then I’ve uploaded a billion* more videos! Most recently… Space Channel 5 (PS2) Freddy Hardest (Spectrum) Great Giana Sisters (C64) Why not have a look? *Actual …

Portal 2

Did you all enjoy the ARG? You know, where tens of thousands of mindless drones played a load of indie games in order to win potatoes so that everyone could play Portal 2 a few days early? Amazing. I’m sure the game is worth it and all, but still…

More Where’s Sonic?

Back by popular demand, there’s MORE “Where’s Sonic?” fun to be found in this here blog post. Set faces to stunned! Hopefully this picture is a higher quality one than the last one. And I’ve even provided the checklist of things! Don’t forget to click the picture for a bigger version.

Kinect and Shovelware

Surely I’m not the only one who remembers Microsoft saying that Kinect titles were not just going to be a load of rehashed Wii ports? That their platform was totally different to Nintendo’s, and an entirely new way to play? That they were aware of the number “sub-par” waggle compilations on the Wii? So why then, are they promoting these three clearly-not-Wii-style-titles-oh-no-honest? Firstly, there’s Carnival Games which, oh yeah – had two outings on the Wii. Oh. Well, what about …

3DS Update!

I have more thoughts about the actual games over on my Gaming Diary, but here are some more comments about the handheld itself. First of all, I love it. Everything about it. It’s such a lovely, lovely device. The screens are bright, the 3D adds loads to the games (and even just the menus and stuff), and the extras already installed are great. I’ve been playing through Super Street Fighter IV and logging which characters I’ve completed it as in …

The 3DS is Here

Actually, it arrived yesterday. It’s very shiny. And very, very impressive. I’m amazed at the difference a bit of 3D makes to games – those on other consoles suddenly look very flat and “wrong”. Even just the subtly 3D menus, splash screens, and “screen furniture” make the games more alive. No doubt over the next few days I’ll post more of my thoughts, but here’s a brainjumble purge to be getting on with: The console Surprisingly small. It’s supposed to …

Rage Trailer

Is it just me, or does the big guy running the show look like Bam Margera’s creepy uncle? Also, it doesn’t look much like the iPhone version. Aside from the graphics, of course. This looks much more flashy and shooty.

Batman: Arkham City

Aside from the VERY exciting 3DS release (10 days away!!) there are only two games this year I’m looking forward to. One is The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim which I am currently on Media Blackout from as I don’t want any spoilers or anything – I want to play it without knowing a thing about it. The other, is Batman: Arkham City. Despite hating the demo of Arkham Asylum, I loved the full game. I eventually realised this was due …

Let’s Play! Samurai Warrior: The Battles of Usagi Yojimbo

Look! A Commodore 64 game! I finally got the Java C64 emulator working, so you might see some more of these in the future. It’s a bit picky about what will and won’t work though. Anyway! The bunnysamurai game! I’m pretty sure he was in one or more episodes of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Did I make that up in my head? He wasn’t attacking straw there, anyway.

Pre-ordering pre-owned games kerfuffle

Quite a few people on Twitter are having a bit of a moan at the moment. No change there. But one of the moaning points today is about Game’s announcement that they’ll be trialling the ability for customers to pre-order pre-owned games. That is, you can order a second-hand copy of a game before the game is even out. Exactly why this is attracting so much vitriol I have no idea. MCV are reporting it as “the first time that …
