Things I’ve been playing recently (Part 1 – Wii U demos)

Time for a roundup. Seeing as I’ve played a lot but not posted about anything. In several parts too, as there’s so much. Firstly, some demos: Over E3, Nintendo put nine new Wii U game demos on the eShop under the horrifically named “Nindies@Home” banner. So I played them. Runbow Not as good as I was hoping for. It plays a bit like Guacamelee only rubbish. Sort of. Platformer with an annoying colour changing mechanic where platforms disappear when the …

Things I’ve been playing recently

It’s another lazy post saving roundup! Yay. Abyss (Wii U) There was a sale on recently where Abyss was a stupidly low price of just 44p, but you needed to own UnEpic in order to get it for that price. So I bought UnEpic, and got Abyss. I had no idea what Abyss was, but it was 44p. Plus the £8 or whatever UnEpic was. Erm. Turns out, it’s a gravity physics cave navigating arcade game. Sort of like the …

Irritating and Unnecessary Gaming Clichés

I’ve been gaming for a long time. This is obvious to anyone who has perused the rest of my site (the Gaming Diary and Museum both give clues to this). I’ve played a lot of games. Hundreds. Thousands, in fact. It would be naïve to assume that, having played so many games, gaming ideas are only ever used once, and so each game is an entirely unique experience. This is, of course, not true. Some things come up all the …

Endless Ocean (Wii)

Also found a load of dolphins too, although I couldn’t make any of them my “partner”. And there was a walrus on my boat when I re-surfaced!

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow: DAWN BROKEN!

Hurrah! The Abyss wasn’t as hard as it seemed at first, as you could just sail through it ignoring many of the baddies. Found a save point right before another boss, who threw bats or something at me. He was reasonably easy to kill, although he did take millions of hits. It seems using the laser beam thing on him was the best way to finish him off. Plowed further on into The Abyss, and found a warp point (so …

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow

I can’t believe I say that yesterday and then make the SAME mistake AGAIN. Rubbish! There’s a Magic Door I can now get through, but didn’t as I had to go back and tool up. And stuff. So forgot about it. Again. And in there, was a very simple to kill boss, who, yes, I was right, jumped in and out of a mirror, whilst using other mirrors to shoot lasers at me. And with him dead, I had to …
