Bayonetta (Wii U)

There are a lot of cut scenes in this, aren’t there? I’m almost certain more time is spent watching the game than playing it, and it isn’t all just so you get gratuitous bum shots without all that silly fighting. I say silly fighting, but it’s obviously very good fighting – there just hasn’t yet been enough of it. Maybe it isn’t the game I was expecting? That isn’t really a complaint, I should  stress, and I’m enjoying it a …

Bayonetta (Wii U)

I bought this as part of the Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 twin pack ages ago, but never got round to actually playing it. I have played demos of both games in the past, and quite enjoyed them, so I was pretty sure I’d like the full games. A naked Sue Perkins with magic hair with guns on her shoes shooting demons from heaven? What’s not to love? I’m not very far in yet. I’ve played the prologue (well, I say …

Astral Chain (Switch): COMPLETED!

I always like the idea of Platinum games, with their amazing combat and bonkers stories, but I rarely hold them in the high regard a lot of other people seem to. Bayonetta is a great game, but is it worth the heaps of praise it gets? I’m not sure. The Wonderful 101 was, well, Wonderful, but it was a way from perfect despite the reviews. Astral Chain, though, is really something special. I think, being half “adventure” and half combat …

104 Game Challenge

Just like last year, this year I took part in the RetroCollect 52 Game Challenge. The idea was to complete, uh, 52 games in a single year. Back in June, I successfully became the first person taking part to hit the 52 game barrier. But I wasn’t going to stop there. With the challenge over before the year was half done, I aimed for 104 games. The 104 Game Challenge, if you will. For the less mathematical of my readers, …

Play Want Bin Expense: 2016-02-15

A quiet week for gaming, it seems. And I didn’t buy Firewatch. Play Puzzle & Dragons Z (3DS) Finally got myself a Tree Dragon Ash chip! Now, of course, I realise I need two of them. Also: grind grind grind grind grind. Bayonetta (Wii U) The story is ridiculous. The fighting is ridiculous. The bosses, are ridiculous. Awesome. Also, nothing says Valentine’s Day like Bayonetta’s bottom. Nova-111 (PS4) I’m somehow a little hooked on this. A lot of people dismissed …

Someone make these games, please

These mock-ups of some recent games as they might appear in the 80s and 90s are amazing. And not just amazing – in many cases they’re actual games I’d really want to own. I also like how they’ve been imagined – Bayonetta as a bullet-hell shooter, and Brutal Legend as a point-and-click adventure game. I’d like SNES Pikmin and Super Mario Sprint  made first, please! See the rest here.
