Patapon (PSP)

After many, many more attempts, I finally managed to save Meden. I’d tried every combination of Patapon armies to do it, but in the end my standard Tate/Yari/Yumi setup was enough. Then it was off to fight a harder version of the crab boss I killed earlier, who dropped the ability to create Megapons. I haven’t made any yet, though. I did, however, come up against some (sort of) in the next mission – where I had to kill off …

Patapon (PSP)

With the power of my new stew, and deciding to run away then fight rather than just storm forwards, I completed the mission I was stuck on (where you have to beat Gong to a caged Patapon, then defeat Gong himself). After that, I opened up a new hunting ground, where I found a black star (although it didn’t appear to do anything), and then repeated the level so it gave me a new cap – reviving a blacksmith Patapon! …

Patapon (PSP)

I was pretty much stuck in this last time I played, since I was unable to progress or beef up my Patapons However, I managed to retrieve the gardener Patapon’s hat on a hunting mission today, meaning I could acquire vegetables, which in turn allowed me to make stew! Perhaps I will now fair better!

Patapon (PSP)

Progress! Finally! I seem to have spent the last four or more hours (in the game over a period of days, not in one sitting today!) essentially doing nothing. I’ve hunted, hunted some more, made some new Patapons, hunted, killed some bosses again, and hunted. But today I finished off two more levels and another boss. Phew! And then I went and hunted some more. And killed some previous bosses. Then hunted a bit. Erm.

Patapon (PSP)

It’s be a week or so since I last played this, and I’d actually forgotten the Pon-Pata-Pon-Pata retreat song. Not that I intend using it, as I’m not a coward. Spend ages redoing hunting levels in order to get more Kerching, so I could create some new “special” Rarepon Patapons. I have this amazing Mogyoon-Yaripon now which has mad damage skillz, something like 50 damage compared to the normal 20 my other Yaripons are capable of. I still need more …

Patapon (PSP)

Haven’t played this for just over a week or so, it seems, so I did get a little confused as to the rhythms for the commands. I need to take on a load of guard posts, but after three defeats (the first because one of the posts has a Patapon squishing device on it!) I decided to try something else instead, and went back to an earlier level for a bit of hunting. After that, I returned to kill Dodonga …

Patapon (PSP)

I totally OBLITERATED the Zigotons today, completely wiping the floor with their three attacks they attempted. One was a mission where I had to escort a cart being pulled by some horses, but even though the horses seemed to complain they were being attacked, I quite easily saw off the enemy. I also have a few flame bows for my archers. Torching the enemy = fun!

Patapon (PSP)

I got a horse! In fact, I got TWO horses! And more archer Patapons. And then went and fought a load of Zigotons. Then some more. And hunted a bit. Then! I found a Patapon with some spoons that smacks a mountain’s rock toes. No, really. Amazing!

Patapon (PSP)

Oh! Now I’ve got the “Don” drum too! That means I can summon rain, allowing me across the desert. Which I did! It was quite difficult, as you have to get Fever active to summon the rain, and the rain doesn’t last forever so you have to summon it often. And, if it’s not raining, your Patapons die as it’s too hot… After that I went and killed (an improved and more powerful) Dodonga again, this time with more Patapons, …

Patapon (PSP)

Oooh! Lots of excitement today! Not only did I figure out how to create more Patapons to use in my now-growing army, but I also found a tree-and-trumpet-man mini-game that gives me stuff, AND I can now Chaka-Chaka-Pata-Pon (defend)! Aces! The Chaka thing was especially useful on Dodonga – the first proper “boss” I encountered in the game. Most of my army were defeated during the fight, but thankfully I collected their caps that they leave behind, so they were …

Patapon (PSP)

This game was the reason I finally decided to get a PSP. With it, there were enough titles available to warrant buying one, and I couldn’t resist Patapon having seen and read about it. Anyway. I’ve played it a bit this evening, and I’m already hooked. It doesn’t touch the analogue nub (which is good), instead pretty much relying on just two (so far) face buttons. Square makes a “pata” noise, and circle is “pon”. When you press these in …

LocoRoco Remastered (PS4): COMPLETED!

It’s been a while since I played this back on the PSP. I noticed it on PSN, with other PSP games PaRappa the Rapper and Patapon for about £3 in total, so picked them up. PaRappa, which was the main reason for buying them, is actually unplayable but luckily this is fine. It’s a lot easier than I remember. Sure, if you’re going for 100% then yes, it’s tricky, but I didn’t even have any issues on the final level …
