Museum game list updated

I’ve added 37 more games to the Museum! I’ve not updated it in quite a while, and I still have to scan a few covers for some of those games added, but the majority are Xbox Live Arcade/Wii Ware/iPhone downloaded titles, so have no covers to scan. I’m up to 1719 games now. That’s a lot of games.

Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 2 (Wii): COMPLETED!

Thankfully, having completed chapter 1 last weekend, I didn’t have to wait long for chapter 2 – it was out on WiiWare yesterday! Played it a bit last night, than completed it this morning. Like chapter 1 it’s a bit short, but then it is a chapter, not a full game. It was great, anyway. A little harder than the first one, as I got stuck a couple of times, but it was just as good.

MadWorld (Wii)

I’ve had this for ages, but never really got round to playing it. However, I installed it on my Wii’s hard drive at the weekend so have played it a bit this week. First of all, it’s violent. Very violent. But it’s so stylised and over the top that it doesn’t feel so bad when you play. It’s not exactly cartoon violence, but it’s certainly not realistic. The gameplay didn’t gel with me at first. The controls felt clumsy, and …

Needed: a Kettle with a Progress Bar

I had an AMAZING idea this morning. You know kettles, right? They’re great, aren’t they? Thing is, you don’t know how long they take to boil – unless you time it or something. Imagine if they had a computer-style progress bar on them! Wouldn’t that be fantastic? You’d never more have to guess how long left before you have a coffee! You’d know if you still had time to nip to the loo or not! You’d be able to manage …

Spectrum Emulator for the iPhone!

Today brings the release of ZXGamer -a ¬¨¬£1.19 ZX Spectrum emulator for the iPhone!  It currently plays only three games (included) – Batty, Cyclone and Exolon, and it runs a bit slow at the moment, but it’s a start! iPhone 3GS only, at the moment. Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 1 (Wii): COMPLETED!

I downloaded this WiiWare game a while ago, but only got round to playing it yesterday. And then completed it today. Yeah, it’s pretty short. But then, it’s by Telltale Games – who did the Strong Bad games I’d played previously – so I wasn’t really surprised. It was pretty good too. Reports on the Wii version had it down as a horrible jerky mess with broken audio and crap graphics, mainly due to the compression necessary to squeeze it …

Reversed Y-axis charts in Excel 2007

I had an unusual query this week. A member of staff wanted to create a line graph that showed the chart position of a song over a number of weeks.¬¨‚Ć It’s an easy thing to do – two columns in the spreadsheet, one for “Week” and one for “Position”. Problem is, in a chart, the low numbers are at the top and the high numbers are at the bottom, so the graph comes out upside-down. You can’t just make the …

Redirected folders on disconnected PCs using GP loopback processing

Over the summer at work, we changed the way staff profiles are stored on the network. Having finally got around the “redirected Application Data breaks Internet Explorer” problem (see here for my fix) in Windows XP, we rolled it out to all users. And all was well. Until they brought their laptops back from the break, and we found they then can’t run various programs or access certain things when not connected to the network. This is because the laptop …

Sonic and Knuckles (360): COMPLETED!

Bought this earlier in the week. Well, it was rude not to, wasn’t it? I already own it for practically every other format it has ever come out on, so I sort of had to. It’s actually my least-played 16-bit Sonic game. That’s probably down to it being the last released though, coupled with the fact I usually played it locked-on to Sonic 3. It’s still excellent, however, but does feel a little short without Sonic 3 in there. It’s …
