New work “game”
Here’s a fun game we’ve been playing at work this week. Never mind Xbox 360 achievements or PS3 trophies – it’s all about getting green piecharts on Windows Services Update Server!

After a few weeks of uming and ahing about whether I wanted to buy a Tower Defence clone for my iPod, I caved in and bought it. I do have a tendency to get addicted to such games, but I didn’t think the iPod was up to it. But it is. Oh yes. The controls are a little fiddly, but aside from that it’s a perfectly capable and hugely addictive game. The basic Tower Defence unit types are swapped for …
Yes! It’s back to Fallout 3! There was a new expansion recently, called Operation Anchorage, and with Lego Indiana Jones completed, I decided to make a start on it. Once in the game, you get a message saying there’s a radio signal from the Brotherhood Outcasts, and a new marker on the map. Once there, you help them out for a bit, then you’re put in a computer simulator (like the Tranquillity Lane ones), and take part in a recreation …
And it’s all over! Today I obtained 100% completed, as well as the remaining achievements. And very good it all was too – especially for the OCD-inclined gamer.
In my quest to completely complete Lego Indiana Jones, I somehow managed to collect 11 artifact pieces on one of the levels.  Even though there are only 10. How?
The other day, with all the snow, I walked across this field. There had been snow on the ground for a full 24 or more hours, and yet somehow none of the kids who live in the estate have bothered to even walk in the snow, let alone build a snowman. Tch.
Finally! Apple have a MacBook mini! A 9-inch screened, netbook-style laptop! Perfect! OK, so they haven’t really. What I actually have here is a normally lovely-but-OS-X-less Dell Inspiron mini 9, with OS X installed on it. Leopard, in fact. It was very easy to do, as well. I just followed the instructions here.
A student came and asked me: “My teacher said she needs a pink and blue toner for her printer” “Pink and blue? Together?” “Yes” “Spots or stripes?” “I don’t know – should I go and ask?”
No, not the news readers, although they qualify anyway. No – I spotted this on the lunchtime news today:
Oh what a shame! Due to the snow, work is closed today! How awful. I’ll just have to try and entertain myself all day instead.
OK, so I haven’t 100%’d it yet. And I’ve only managed to get 17 of the 18 True Adventurer targets. Strangely, I managed all 17 first go without even trying, whereas the one I missed (“Motorcycle Escape” on Last Crusade) just seems impossible – not least because of all the rocket launcher men that appear right at the end. But I’ll keep playing – at least to get all 18, and I’ll probably go for all the parcels to post …
I was flicking through the “new music videos” section of Virgin On Demand last night, when I stumbled across this.
Tomorrow, my gorgeous baby daughter is one month old. You might be wondering why I’ve not posted much about her here, well, since she was born, but that’s because she has her own (private) website for friends and family. I’m not keen on posting lots of pictures and information about her in a public space like this for obvious reasons – not least because she already appears to have attracted an unwanted stalker. Anyway. It’s amazing how the month has …
Oh my! Who’d have thought that I’d get some game-time this weekend? Not only did I manage to start this, but I also managed a few minutes on a few demos – Legendary (crap) and Skate 2 (acebest!). I made a start on Lindy yesterday, completing the first two levels of Raiders of the Lost Ark. I was surprised at just how good it was, as I seem to recall the lack of guns (compared to Lego Star Wars) was …
