Aces, I thought – I’ve beaten Daren and Neil with my 1356g brain score. Sadly, this was not to be, as not only did Daren post an improved score soon afterwards, but two other people joined my record list and both had 1450+ scores. One is even on over 1600g. Kill them both!
For some reason, that phrase has been in my head all day. I haven’t even heard the Dizzee Rascal song it stems from recently either. It’s driving me nuts.
You know, this is a deceptively deep platformer. In between the platforming and swimming, there are puzzles, spikes (and stars to collect) trapped in blocks you destroy, and a pretty large array of moves. Who knew a starfish could be so agile? I’m up to 3-3 now, and I seem to be hopping around the back of a giant turtle. You know, as you do.
I saw this for cheap in Asda this evening, and as I was going to buy it at some point anyway, I picked it up. It’s the same sort of thing as the DS version I played a fair bit of last year, only with mostly different activities and some over-the-internet stats comparison with other people in your Wii contacts list. First off, I went straight into a test. I’m really not good at the memorise stuff. Firstly, I can’t …
Amazing. You can now play the classic text adventure (or “interactive fiction” as they seem to be called these days) game version of Douglas Adams’ book via an instant messenger client. It uses the Jabber network, but Google Talk is compatible so if you have that (or even just the Google homepage gadget, as shown below) you can play! Just send a message to “prakbot [at] jabber.org”, and once connected, type !startgame to, uh, well, you can guess. See here …
You know, with “trails” turned off in the graphics options, suddenly everything is a lot better looking. But sadly, still awful. Problems I had today: In one mission, you have to use a fire engine to put out a fire. Controls for the fire engine’s water cannon are circle to fire, and the right stick to aim. So you need two right thumbs. Near the first safehouse you get access to (just south of it, in fact) there’s a motorbike. …
I already have, and have played a little of, the 4th game in this series. I was hoping to start with the first game, but can’t get it for under a million pounds, and this was about 9p on Play Asia a while ago so I picked it up. It’s a cute platformer with some puzzley elements and collection, and many of the levels involve some sort of quest. So far, I’m on level 2-2, having just collected some furniture …
There I am, having a conversation with someone on IRC about them knowing someone called Andy who works in IT in a high school, then I mention that I’m one, and I know three others and one in IT at a university: [18:12] deKay: *another* Andy that works in a local high school?[18:12] deKay: Preposterous[18:12] rachel|laptop: yes, my friend andy that works as an IT tech in the local high school, freaky isn’t it?[18:12] rachel|laptop: almost beyond belief[18:12] deKay: 🙂[18:12] …
Or rather, Vice City Stories of Blur and Brown. The game looks horrific. I mean, Canis Canem Edit didn’t look great, but this? Awful. It’s like someone took the original Vice City and smeared it with dirty hands. I suppose that’s what you get for porting a PSP game back to the PS2. Anyway. So I’m Vic Vance, Lance Vance’s (from the original) brother, and this seems to be set a while before the original. I’m a corporal in the …
I was joust going to have an hour or so of Forza 2 when I realised Tim was online and playing Bomberman Live. “Aha!” I thought, “I can thrash him at that!” And promptly did. By “thrash” I mean, I won what was essentially a very close set of best-of-threes, with me winning 4 sets to 3 overall. But it’s the winning that counts, right? Right.
I won’t go into too much detail of the remainder of the game in case I spoil it for anyone reading, but most of the last hour or so involved beating up, then working with, the townies. I also had to vandalise the house of a teacher, and then there was a huge school-wide punchup, which almost became a SuckySuck(TM) bit as I had to take down all the clique leaders again. Finally, there was the inevitable showdown with Gary, …
It isn’t all that long ago I played the original Marathon on my MacBook via AlephOne. I wasn’t all that impressed then, and I’m not very impressed with it’s sequel (why do the sequel first?) on XBLA either. There’s nothing actually wrong with it at all. It’s just that Marathon is, and always has been, a poor man’s Doom. I got hold of an old Mac about 7 years ago with Marathon on it, and I didn’t like it then, …
With the nerds totally won over (again), we set about taking out the jocks. This mainly involved humiliating them to varying degrees (taking pictures of a cheerleader in the shower, gluing the american footballers to a bench, etc.) and eventually I had to take out the entire team on the field. Which was alarmingly easy. And then Chapter 5! And it’s all gone wrong. All the gangs hate me (again), and I had to do something to help each one. …
Well, that’s all the Greasers dealt with. This chapter seemed somewhat short, but perhaps it’s just I found it easier and didn’t have to redo any bits. Now I’m onto Chapter 4 – and time to take down the final clique (which is constantly pronounced as “click” by the characters in the game, much to my irritation – it should be “cleek”), which is the Jocks. Why, then, do I appear to be at war with the nerds again? Tch. …
I was staying with my inlaws at the weekend, and they’ve bought a new PC. I offered to transfer all their files from their seven year old Windows 98 PC over to their new one for them. However, this was fraught with complications. My usual method of doing this would be with a USB drive of some kind. Unfortunately, we’d called in at the inlaws on the way back from our holiday in Bournemouth, so I didn’t have any with …
