Just a quick go on this while I waited for the other game I’m going to play today was downloading. I’m on Scenario 6 at the moment, and really can’t do it at all. I either run out of power, or run out of money. Make more power sources, and you increase operating costs and so your money goes down each turn. However, make more money-making units, and you run short on power. Hmmm.
I know I have ten billion new games that arrived this week, and I also know Street Fighter II is being released on XBLA tomorrow, but I still decided to unlock the full version of this. Played a few demo games this afternoon, as I’ve been downloading a few recently. They’re all the trial versions of Xbox Live Arcade titles. My animals were in a bit of a wanting mood today. Two of them were after clothes, one wanted furniture, and another (Kabuki) was wanting to move out and needed convincing to stay. I tried, but not especially hard. Nook was buying turnips for 83 bells, so I didn’t sell them, but I did manage to catch a few insects I hadn’t previously seen about.
This was one of four games that came in the post today, and as soon as I turned it on, I saw my brother was online playing it. After about ten minutes in the training sessions of career mode, I played a few games against him and barely won a few points, let alone any games or sets. Even changing my player was no use. Finished up Ghana, where there was another boss battle, and then went over to Kajekstan (or however you spell it). No tomb there, either, just a Soviet research base, a train I had to chase on a motorbike, and some wantering through a giant Tesla device thingie. Finished off Peru, and then waded through Japan (yes, there wasn’t much in the way of Tombs to Raid) and killed my first “boss”. Then it was off to Ghana, where I’ve managed to get inside another tomb, and start up some traps. Which doesn’t sound like such a clever idea…
No score improvements, sadly, but I did managed to unlock another achievement, leaving just the “perfect challenge stage” one remaining.
Having owned the game now for a few months, and not even opened it, I thought it about time I made a start on it. I’ve worked my way through Bolivia (which was the demo level I’d played previously, only longer), then arrived in Peru, done the town bit and motocycle chase sequence, done the “Lara as a teenager” section, and have now drained the dig site and am ready to find Amanda. Bought this for 400 points on Xbox Live Arcade today, after briefly playing the demo and thinking the £3-ish was worth it. And it was. It’s just Galaga, plain and simple. It looks like I’m back in the swing of completing games! Huzzah! I finished the two levels (Challenges 3 and 4, in fact), and that unlocked a (pretty easy) final level. Once that was complete, I saw the credits, got another achievement, and it was Game Over! Bluebear has moved in, although not from my wife’s town (where she moved out from the other day), she’s actually come from Skipai’s town, Otterdom. Whilst chatting to my animals today, I found that Kabuki is in fact a boy, and not a girl at all (like he clearly was). How bizarre.
For a moment, I thought I’d completed the game. But obviously, I hadn’t. I finished the last level and the last challenge (although I didn’t get all the dolls or Clydes in either), and then assumed it was all over. But no. It seems I have forgotten two challenge levels somewhere along the way. Tch, eh?
