New Super Mario Bros (DS)

OK, so with the game started (and completed) in just a few hours yesterday, I set about opening up all the pathways I’d missed – mainly with the aim of opening up Worlds 4 and 7. It seems some of the pathways I missed first run through were, in fact, the “normal” routes, and I’d accidently taken secret exits and therefore detoured. Specifically, on World 6 I seem to have missed out almost the entire set of levels. So, plenty …

Brain Age (DS)

Once again managed to be pretty successful at the tests today, although my Reading Aloud score was a bit crap. I don’t take much notice of the score for that test though, as it’s always artificially lowered by me anyway, as the DS can’t keep up with my real reading speed and Dr Wossisface complains I’m going too fast. And today’s Brain Age? 20!

New Super Mario Bros (DS): COMPLETED!

Yes! Already! I thought it was actually going to end a bit sooner, what with reaching the castle in World 8, but oh no – there’s more. Nothing very hard, however. I did like the find-the-correct-route bit in the “real” final castle. Very Super Mario Bros! So now it is completed, in about two and a half hours play, what next? Well, the other half of the game, of course! Loads of levels (and two entire worlds) left to unlock! …

New Super Mario Bros (DS)

It’s the first proper 2D Mario game in 15 years. And it arrived today. And… it’s fantastic! Spent about two hours on it so far. I’m going to rip through it to the end first, before going back and unlocking everything and finding the secrets, as that way you get the “save anywhere” option. So far I’ve made it to World 6. Of 8. Yes. Already. I didn’t unlock World 4 though, so I’ve only really done four, not five. …

Completed both rounds in “Ski Patrol”, the Russian game show. One involved rescuing a stranded skier, then taking him on a sled somewhere, and the other was about following a pro boarder, pulling tricks in certain places. After that, I spent some time on other challenges, bumping up my points so as to open up the next bit of story – which was to find the Tram Pass, which in turn opened up another area of the mountain.

Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS)

Aside for selling a bit of fruit today, and collecting my letters (one of which was a present from the Town Hall telling me I have over 10,000,000 bells in my account), I spent a while clearing out my house. I was completely out of space to put anything, so packed my Snowman stuff away, sold a load of clocks and non-matching items, and went and ordered all the fruit furniture from Nook. While I was in Nook’s I cleaned …

Brain Age (DS)

No problems with the tests again today, and even beat another score. Didn’t bother with all of them, but only missed out two (Calculations x100 and Syllable Count). Today’s Age, however, was a slightly disappointing 23. I mis-counted one of the questions on Number Cruncher, I think.

Brain Age (DS)

Didn’t really have a lot of time today, so I didn’t bother doing all of the tests. Managed the Calculations x20, Triangle Math(s) (on which I beat the top score), Reading Aloud, Head Count, and a couple of others. Then I did the Brain Age test, and managed to get another Age of 20! BEST.

Achievement Unlocked! 70 Gamerpoints Get! Ace! I “finished” the first mountain (although, I expect I’ll be back) by chasing some people on boards, then on a snowmobile. Now I’ve been kicked out of my “crew” because the crew leader bloke (J-Dog) is in cahoots with the bad guys. I found out, so I’m out. On “Snowbird” Mountain, I met some strange pig-head bloke, who wanted me to do stunts for his advertising agency. Cue plenty more totally bizarre cut scenes, …

Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS)

293 bells for turnips! ACES. Sold all mine, making more than 3,000,000 bells in total. With my new-found wealth I finally paid off the last mortgage on my house. I hadn’t bothered paying the almost-1-million previously, as I didn’t see the point. Besides, I wanted to reach 10,000,000 bells in the post office, which I managed today. Also sold some fruit, but not enough to clear my trees even slightly. I had some visitors today too, including my wife and …

Oh my. This game is messed up. I don’t know what the designers were on, but the result is one of the most bizarre things ever. It’s like a cross between SSX, The Magic Roundabout, Homestar Runner, Seanbaby and Dude, Where’s My Car? No, really. I mean, one of today’s tasks was to get a high score on a stretch of mountain. Fair enough, yes? Except that it was presented by what appeared to be a character from an obscure …

Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS)

Another quick day’s play today. I am beginning to tire of the game now, but it has served me well for over five months, with me playing almost every single day. It’s just between daily Crossing and daily Brain Age, I’m missing out on the twenty billion other games I have. Perhaps I’ll make it six months and then call it a day. Anyway. Turnips were 74 bells today. I did, however, manage to bump into Wendell (finally!) and so …

Brain Age (DS)

Although I managed to completely mess up Time Lapse today (getting a time of almost three minutes), mainly due to mixing up the big and little hands in some kind of primary schoolchild way, I did pretty well overall. My best score was on Syllable Count, where I managed to finih it in 36 seconds. It was the only scoreboard I wasn’t at the top of, with the previous best being 42 seconds or so. ACES. To top it all …
