Super Xbox 360 Demo Fighter II (360)

I’ve downloaded a few demos over the last week or two, so decided to have a go at them this evening. I started with MotoGP ’06. I have a demo of a previous MotoGP game on my Xbox, and this is, well, exactly the same. OK, so it’s a bit shinier, but the track is the same demo track, the rider is the same rider, and the everything is basically the same. Only with a bit of gloss. I can’t …

Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS)

Quite a brief play this evening. Sold enough fruit to clean out Nook again (he must be loaded now), and to order yet another moon. I have 6,500 or so points left before becoming a Platinum Member in the loyalty system. Turnips were 94 bells today. Had another bizarre moment when, after Nan told me that Lucky and Friga act more like brother and sister than friends, Margie then explained how cute it was that Lucky and Friga were together …

Uno (Demo) (360)

This appeared on the Xbox Live Arcade downloads today, so I downloaded it. Only had the one game, which consisted of four hands, and I lost. I’d won the first two hands, then Purple won the third, and then someone else won the final hand. Even though I’d won two and he’d won one, his points from that one hand (290) were way ahead of my total (161). And, since you needed 250 to win, I didn’t. Pah.

Lost Planet (Demo) (360)

With it being E3 this week, loads of trailers and a few demos have appeared on the Xbox Live Marketplace. I’d heard absolutely nothing about Lost Planet so I thought it ideal to be the one I downloaded. Obviously. And it’s, erm, bizarre. In many ways, it’s fantastic (the napalm-like fire explosions and the snowstorm effects are great. The Bionic Commando zipline grappler device is underused (in this demo, anyway), and there only seem to be three types of baddie. …

Some Xbox 360 Demo Games (360)

So I downloaded a few more game demos today. First off, was Full Auto, which is very much like Burnout only with guns. And a Prince of Persia-style time-rewind system. It plays nice and all, but it doesn’t look much better than Burnout 3. In fact, in some ways, it’s actually worse visually. Probably not a game I’ll be buying any time soon, sorry Sega… Then I played Quake 4. I don’t mind FPS games, but they’re not my favourite …

Fight Night Round 3 (Demo) (360)

Normally, I wouldn’t be interested in playing a boxing game, but after the graphical disappointment of PGR3, I downloaded the demo to see what the 360 can really do. Well, based on reviews of it and everything anyway. And it’s nice. Looks great, plays well. But, it’s not quite right. Considering the faces are supposed to be “photorealistic”, they’re not really even close. Part of the problem is that you have to pay close attention to the boxers’ faces to …

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within (GC)

Either I’m just rubbish, or there’s really no proper way of telling which way you’re supposed to go in this game half the time. You go through the same rooms so many times that it’s easy to get lost. And lost I got, and after twenty minutes of going in the wrong direction I realised I wasn’t doing what I was supposed to and so reloaded an earlier saved game. Then I found the Woman in Red again, got a …

Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS)

Just a quick play this evening, to check turnip prices. Sadly, 97 bells each was the best Nook had to offer. Offloaded a load of duplicate fossils and a few fruit to make a bit of money, and have about 25,000 bells in my pockets with 120,000 left on my mortgage. Didn’t have time to sell the rest of my fruit, but I reckon I have enough to sell tomorrow to become debt free. For all of ten minutes, anyway.

Under the Skin

“Erm” is probably the best way to describe this game. Either that or “Cel Damage meets Jet Set Radio meets Area 51“. The fact that one of the characters seems to be Mojo Jojo in a different body is also disturbing. I’ve only played one level so far, and that had involved randomly “becoming” people, laying giant yellow drawing pins, vacuuming up coins, and punching people with a huge spring-loaded boxing glove. And some rollerskating. I failed the level, but …

Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst

I downloaded the client for the beta test of the PC version last night. This evening, I have struggled and fought to get the bloody thing to work – and after two hours, I’m giving up. Firstly, I couldn’t type anything. That meant that I couldn’t even get into the game. Turned out to be something to do with Japanese language support. Then I could type, but it wouldn’t recognise the ID and password I was setting up. It seems …

Outrun 2

I thought I’d beat a few more of Tim’s scores today, so did so. Specifically, Route 1. I then went and tried some of the Challenges, but failed on them all. They’re too hard. FACT. Then something bizarre happened. I decided to try and beat Tim’s Route 4 score, so chose his ghost to race. All was well (aside from me being behind) until the first split in the road – I could only go left, as I expected, but …
