Decided to join the Arena. Er, so I did. Warped to Imperial City, found the Arena, and signed up. Was a bit annoyed at the armour juggling I had to go through in order to wear the proper Arena “uniform”, but was soon up and fighting. Achievement Unlocked! 10 Gamerpoints Get! This appeared on the Xbox Live Arcade downloads today, so I downloaded it. Only had the one game, which consisted of four hands, and I lost. I’d won the first two hands, then Purple won the third, and then someone else won the final hand. Even though I’d won two and he’d won one, his points from that one hand (290) were way ahead of my total (161). And, since you needed 250 to win, I didn’t. Pah.
I like the way this title is worded, as it clearly isn’t an “unlimited demo”, as it quits after about ten minutes play. That aside, and the multitude of horrible bugs (you can’t drive on sand, as you fall through it, and policewomen consist entirely of just a wig moving around the floor) ignored, then it can be considered pretty good fun. Mr Brain Doctor Man reminded me it was my birthday tomorrow. As if I’m some kind of idiot and didn’t know. I’m clearly not any kind of idiot, as I regained the Brain Age of 20 crown today! ACES. Completed a couple of sudoku too.
Explored Leyawiin for quite a while today, and opened up a few quests (although haven’t actually started any). Tried to get people to train me in assorted things, but no-one could as I was either a higher level than them, or I’d “reached my training limit for my level”. Bah. Concocted a load of potions, and finally found my tenth (and 11th and 12th, in fact) Nirnroot for that quest in Skingrad waaaaaaay back when. There seems to be loads …
Turnipage Maximum! Bought about a million bells worth of turnips for 108 bells each. That’s not far off 10,000 turnips. I struggled to find somewhere to put them all as well. Sold a bit of fruit too (the bloody stuff has almost all grown back), and got shut of some fossils as well.
Since I’d been having connection problems in the week for wifi play, I opened up my gates for an hour or so today to see if anyone could visit. And lo, Lyzzy and Matt both turned up. Hurrah! Didn’t do a lot, except have a chat (and cleared out Nook too – I’m a Gold Member now, and am working towards Platinum). No fruit today, thankfully. I’m all fruit-harvesting out!
So it seems that the lightning staff you have the option of using in order to kill the two minotaurs in the dream is actually usable. I’d been pressing the “cast magic” button, not “wield weapon” button, so it had been just telling me I was silenced. Did pretty well today, getting in the Top 3 for most of the tests. Messed up Head Count though – sometimes it is difficult to tell if it’s 4 entering the house, or 5. Or 6. Anyway. My Brain Age was 21 (even though I topped two of the scores again), so I’m still not sure what’s going on. Completed another sudoku too.
Since I was having “issues” with Animal Crossing‘s Wifi connection, I thought I’d try Tetris and see if that worked. Within seconds, I was paired with some Japanese guy (or girl) for a game of Push Mode. They were clearly much better than me, and so the game didn’t last long, but at least Wifi was working. No idea what is up with Animal Crossing then…
Played this for a few hours this evening. Mainly, I was harvesting the 220,000+ bells-worth of fruit that was on the floor and had regrown on the trees, but I also found a few fossils and ran a few errands for animals. Wolfgang has done a runner, probably as I wasn’t gay for him, so my town is now down three animals and no-one has replaced them, so it looks a bit empty. In fact, Lucky told me so himself. …
Was very successful in all my tests today, managing to get in the top three, or tie with 3rd place, in almost all of them. Almost every single graph showed an upturn from yesterday as a result, which was good. Made a mistake on Time Lapse (I got the little and big hands confused like a stupid child), but it netted me second place anyway. Really pregressing with Triangle Math(s) too – it’s getting pretty easy now (although the (x+y)-(y-z) …
Just the one puzzle today, a Super Hard one, which was really quite difficult due to the chequerboard-type nature of so many of the squares. It took about 20 minutes to do, which is forever for one of these puzzles. Anyway, I have 10 Super Hard puzzles complete now, only 20 to go…
And still the fruit keeps coming. I’m not sure I can cope with it all. Fruit overload! Sold about 60,000 bells worth today, but aside from that I didn’t do very much else, apart from turnip duties. Nook offered me just 80 bells today (is that in the 80s every day so far this week then?) so I didn’t sell any. Looks like it might be another end-of-the-week, hope-for-a-price-elsewhere session then.
