Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 1 (Wii): COMPLETED!

I downloaded this WiiWare game a while ago, but only got round to playing it yesterday. And then completed it today. Yeah, it’s pretty short. But then, it’s by Telltale Games – who did the Strong Bad games I’d played previously – so I wasn’t really surprised. It was pretty good too. Reports on the Wii version had it down as a horrible jerky mess with broken audio and crap graphics, mainly due to the compression necessary to squeeze it …

How to install XP on a Philips Freevents laptop

We got a couple of Philips Freevents 11NB5800 laptops at work this week, and they’re actually very nice. Of course, they come with Vista installed, so we had to remove that. Problem #1 There are no XP drivers for the Freevents 11B5800. There’s nothing in the box (not even a Vista restore disc), and Philips have no mention of any of their laptops on their website. In fact, outside of PC World’s online store, the Freevents doesn’t appear to exist. …

Amazing “facts” from Christian forums

I’m not anti-[insert religion here] (some of my best friends are [insert religion here]), but some of these quotes are simply unbelievable. Do people really think this: Yes, that is a great company. I bought one of their large print version (old eyes… what can I say?). The only thing I don’t like about them is they sell foreign language versions of the KJB. I don’t think that’s right. We know the only true translation is the 1600’s version in …

Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)

At the risk of these entries becoming little more than just updates into how many stars I now have, I’d just like to say “108 Stars!”. Thing is, it’s hard to describe what levels I’ve done to get those stars for two reasons: the first being The Spoiler Problem, and the other is because when you play the game it all blends into one gooey fuzzy lovely experience, and I forget which planet was in which galaxy and stuff. I’m …

The £25 Game Challenge

Games aren’t cheap, are they? Especially if you don’t bother shopping around, and just pop into your local Game on release day and pay £50 because you’re too lazy or impatient or ignorant or rich. And, when you buy as many games as I do, that’s a lot of wasted pounds. So I’ve decided: I will no longer pay more than £25 for a game. It’s actually not as big or bold a statement as it seems. I always shop …

Pac-Man CE (360)

You know, I never really liked Pac-Man all that much. It was OK and everything, but I wasn’t one of those people who could play it over and over trying for better scores and stuff. I rarely touched it in the arcade, and much preferred Pac-Land over the original, which I realise is probably blasphemy. So why, then, have I not only bought both Pac-Man and Ms Pac-Man from Xbox Live Arcade, but now I’ve bought Pac-Man Championship Edition too? …

Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS)

I was in a Turnip Quandry today, with Nook buying for 198 bells. I’m sure I can do better, but 198 is still a reasonable price. So what to do? Well, the same as I do every week, Pinky – try to take over the… uh, I mean, risk it, not sell them, and then hope someone online gets a better price tomorrow. I don’t learn, do I? Anyway. It was still raining, but I did manage to find a …

Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS)

No! Margie is trying to move out! That will not be permitted. To try and convince her to stay, I sent her TEN letters, begging her not to move away from Cheese. I spoke to her loads as well, and told her not to go. She will stay. I hope! Bought everything from Nook again too, and ordered a few more moons. I have about 1,700 points left before I’m a Platinum member. No turnip sellage today, although Nook offered …

Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS)

Turnip day! And, with one million bells in the post office, I decided to go mad with a bit of a medium-risk venture. I took 500,000 bells out, which added to my cash-in-hand bought me 6,000 turnips. I have them all over my house. I was going to leave them out the front of my house, but I was worried they might go “missing” at some point. I also bought a red turnip seed. It was 1,000 bells, and I …

Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS)

Today was turnip day, and thanks to the huge amount of fruit I’d sold in the last few days, I had easily enough bells to buy 1000 of them. In fact, I could have bought 2500, but I don’t to risk that much on them just now. It seems that Agent S has moved out. I’m not sure why, and there was no clue to him/her leaving, but there shouldn’t be another sex faux pas as far as that particular …

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow

Well, I wasn’t going to play it, but I found myself drawn into Julius Mode for a few hours. I’ve now got all three characters in my party, and have explored a substantial area of the map. I’ve also defeated a fair few bosses too, including Dmitrii and Dario. I made it to the giant fish boss, but I’d almost gone through the “wrong” entrance to it, so there wasn’t a save point nearby. Decided not to risk it (I …

Pocket Slay

Been playing this a bit today on my iPaq. It’s one of those games I play a lot, but don’t report on here very often as it isn’t “mainstream”. It is, however, ACEBEST. It is sort of like Risk meets Paper, Scissors, Stone, where you have to take over territories, but do so by having ever more powerful fighters to defeat less powerful ones. Erm. That doesn’t really explain it very well, but the website for the game (and there …
