The Castlevania Adventure (GB): COMPLETED!

Oh my! Only four levels? Just as well as if there were any more, things may have been broken on purpose. Level 3 is the real killer. The spikes are really rather hard to get past. Once you do, however, the rest of the game is pretty easy in comparison. The boss at the end of Level 3 was some sort of Harpy, who was easy to dodge, and then it was on to Level 4. It looked like there …

Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (GBA)

Bossaroo! Did the third boss-room-that-isn’t-a-boss first of all today, and then moved on to the actual next boss. At first, it seemed like it was going to be a giant bat, but then a huge hand came out of nowhere and squashed the bat, killing it. Instead, I had to kill the two hands and two eyes of a, uh, thing. Balgone? Something like that anyway. It was actually pretty easy once I’d sussed the fact you could jump on …

Castlevania: Circle of the Moon (GBA)

I’m getting near the end now. I can smell it. That, and I’ve uncovered more than 80% of the map and have only one “magic power” left to obtain. Killed Camilla, who was actually very easy once I took my time about it and actually dodged her attacks rather than blindly trying to whip her. My axes proved very useful too. My power-up gained was Roc’s Feather (isn’t that Link’s power-up? Hmm…) which lets me jump very high indeed. Then …

Super Castlevania IV (Wii)

Yes, I’m back. I’ve had a week away from games, and I have returned anew. Or something. Time to get in and complete some of those games I’m very nearly there with. Like this one! Sadly, I didn’t manage to progress much further. I got as far as 8-2, on bit with seemingly random spikes that come out from the platform above, and are impossible to predict or dodge. So I died. A lot. Rubbish. And I’m so close as …

Castlevania: Circle of the Moon (GBA)

Dragons SLAIN! Hurrah! I found a pattern I could stick to that made them much easier to kill and dodge, and so they were soon dead. And then it was off on another wander around the castle opening areas I couldn’t previously get to, since I can now push big crates out of the way. Found some more HP/MP/heart upgrades, and then wandered into an area full of Ice Armour baddies and some sort of acid water. Eurgh.

P.N.03 (GC)

This game has been sat on my shelf for about 18 months now, I think, and I’ve never even opened it. I thought I knew about the game too – jump around as a german woman and shoot robots. Dodge into alcoves, do cartwheels, etc. But there’s more to it than even that. There’s a combo system in place, which encourages you to quickly defeat baddie after baddie. This gives you stacks more points, and what do points make? Prizes! …

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within (GC)

Progressed quite a bit further today, getting past the spikes that had “killed” me previously, going back into the present, running from the Dahaka (I hate those bits) and returning to the past again. There, I started doing some of the clock tower thingy, and then had another big golem to kill. I found that you can dodge him grabbing you when you’re on his back my pressing A or X and left or right, which made killing him a …

Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan

Two more levels done, namely Dodgeball and Potter. Had a go on Teacher, but, well, it’s a bit bloody hard, isn’t it? I’m taking about 10 or more attempts to clear each level so far. I dread to think how difficult Ready Steady Go! is going to be…

Viewtiful Joe 2

Reel 6 – Do Androids Dream of Romantic Scene? I don’t care, but what I do care about is the sodding SuckySuck(TM) bit that is the entire reel. Yes. Why do games designers think that recycling all of the game’s bosses and throwing them at you one after another is a good idea? There is some stupid bit of story behind it this time, with “Miss Bloody Rachel” (no, that is her name) the android morphing into copies of all …

Metroid Fusion

It took many, many attempts, and lots of dying very quickly, but I finally figured out the way to dodge Nightmare in his second “phase”. Well, I’d figured it out already, it was just because my Space Jump skillz were not ub3r1337 that I couldn’t put them into place. Some of it was also down to luck – namely, where he stopped. In certain places it meant I could fire off a million rockets into his face, in others only …

Broken Sword: The Sleeping Dragon: SLAYERED

The wine puzzle was obvious once I’d read George’s notes. Thankfully – I was feeling stuck. I then had another annoying Sam Fisher moment, and found the Templars hiding. They knighted George, and gave him the Phi stone, to go with his Omega and Alpha stones. On returning to the “gang”, the location of Susarro was figured out (the exact location, that is) and it was off to Eygpt. Another sneak-past-the-guards section later, and we were inside the Armillary, where …

GTA: San Andreas

Decided not to bother with the police bikes, as the heist probably isn’t part of the main story. Instead, I did some more missions for Toreno, which I didn’t realise were available to me until I saw the red glow at my airstrip. Had to fly a plane really low, under the radar, to some point and drop some stuff, then fly back. This was made harder by the twitchiest plane controls EVAR and the fact that the “minimum height” …
