From the dawn of time: ugvm 07
It’s been a while since I “reprinted” any of ugvm. In Issue 07, the last under my editorship, we looked at multiplayer game etiquette, the CD32, the NeoGeo Pocket Colour, and about ten million game reviews. Including Knights of the Old Republic, a pre-cursor to Mass Effect – a game I’m currently enjoying very much. Anyhoo – the magazine! Fallout: New Vegas
If it’s even one tenth the game Fallout 3 is, New Vegas is worth getting very excited for indeed. And look! He’s got a glowing red face!
The £20 Game Challenge
Just over two years ago, I came up with the £25 Game Challenge. In summary, it was a rule preventing me from paying over £25 for any game. And, in that time I only broke the rule once, except that somehow, I hadn’t. So the time has come to update the challenge. Looking at every game I’ve bought in the last year or so, not a single one has cost me more than £20. Why not, then, drop the limit …
Free shiny retro new thing!
After scraping together all my Club Nintendo stars loyalty points at the end of last year (some were due to expire on the 31st of December), I had a look through the Club Nintendo Stars Catalogue for things to spend them all on. Of course, it had to be this: It’s three old Game & Watch games – Oil Panic, Donkey Kong, and Green House – all for the DS. Which is oooh shiny enough in itself, but becomes even …
2009: The Games
I was surprised that, despite having a baby at Christmas last year, I was still able to play games in 2009. It seems babies sleep! Not that I’d have imagined that in our first few days with her at home. More surprising, is that I’ve somehow managed to complete a total of 43 games in the last 12 months. In 2008, I “only” completed 33. But the best games of 2009? That’s an ask, isn’t it? Mainly because I’m pretty …
My Free Wii
(Two Wii posts in one day! It’s like Wii Friday or something!) Remember this? It was the day I bought my Wii.¬¨‚Ć I’d lined up outside Game at half 6 in the morning, and finally – at just after 8am, I had my launch day Wii and was running home as fast as my little legs could carry me. But there was something that happened that day. When I bought my Wii, I paid for it with my credit card. …
My Wii RIP, part III
I completely forgot to update everyone on what happened with my dead Wii! Let me just rectify that for you. In Part II, I’d had an email from Nintendo telling me that a bricked-by-homebrew Wii could cost ¬¨¬£200 to repair. Taking it to a local repair shop, I was told that there was little they could do for me, so I bit the bullet and sent it to Codestorm, who do the Wii repairs in the UK. In the covering …
Play New Super Chick Sisters
It’s like Super Mario Bros, only with a message from PETA. That’s right kids – McDonalds kill animals and feed them to you! Mmm, tasty! OK, so they might be cruel when they do it, but think – if they weren’t cruel, we’d have no New Super Chick Sisters. And then what sort of a world would we live in? Controls are arrow keys and space. And no, you can’t shoot the chickens. I tried.
My Wii RIP, part II
A reply! Read the bit in bold as if they’re sucking air in through their teeth: Dear (deleted), thank you for your email. I have included our Repair FAQ below for you, as this descibres how you would send your console to us for repair. However, I‚Äö?Ñ?¥m afraid any console that has had any kind of unauthorised software or hardware modifiction would be listed as a chargeable repair. In some cases, this may be at a cost as high as …
