Tetris Splash (360)

People have stopped playing this online already?! It’s been out less than a week! Managed to find just one single game, which was in progress. When it finished, the host didn’t bother starting another game and one by one all the players gave up waiting and quit. As did I. So played Marathon Mode, reaching Level 17 (I think) with a score that puts me at around 7000th in the world. Rubbish!

Tetris Splash (360)

I’m not that huge a fan of Tetris you know. Yeah, it’s alright, but I was never one of those people who could sit and play it for hours. I always prefered Columns. Well, until Puyo Puyo existed, anyway. I think it’s the combo and/or chaining system of other well-based puzzle games that appeals to me, and Tetris doesn’t have one. But I bought it anyway, even though it has the broke-the-original “additions” of other recent Tetris titles – you …

Tetris (Famicom)

Aha! I’m not as crap at this. Played for a good 20 minutes or so, and only stopped as I had something else I needed to do instead. Like Pac-Land from earlier, the controls are a bit wonky – down is rotate, and A is drop. Bizarre.

Tetris DS (DS)

Since I was having “issues” with Animal Crossing‘s Wifi connection, I thought I’d try Tetris and see if that worked. Within seconds, I was paired with some Japanese guy (or girl) for a game of Push Mode. They were clearly much better than me, and so the game didn’t last long, but at least Wifi was working. No idea what is up with Animal Crossing then…

Tetris DS (DS)

Played a couple of games of Push Mode online against someone called “Ms Candy” this evening. I won both times, but it seemed like I was going to lose each one, until I managed a Tetris and she (I assume it’s a she) died almost instantly. Tch, eh? Had a quick go (offline) at Touch Puzzle Mode, and completed the first 10 or so puzzles, and then did the Yoshi’s Cookie themed Puzzle Mode, but only managed the first three …

Tetris DS (DS)

Hurrah! Wifi Tetris! On the DS! And it’s great! So far, anyway. Played single player “classic” mode, and made it up to Level 11, before Link appeared and everything went wrong and I lost. I then had a go on 4-player over Nintendo Wifi Connection, and, erm, came last. In my defence, everyone else had played 20+ games online already. After that, it was a quick go on Catch Mode. It reminds me of another game, but I can’t think …

Unpacking (Switch): COMPLETED!

What I was expecting from this game: a sort of Tetris puzzle game where you have to fit items into a room. What I was not expecting: a putting-things-away simulator with an unwritten, non-verbal story about the life of a woman. Told over a number of years across various different houses, you unpack your belongings as you move in. Over time, you acquire (and lose) new hobbies, tastes and relationships, but this is only explained by the objects in the …

Maquette (PS5): COMPLETED!

Maquette is a very clever idea married with a nice story but neither has much to do with the other. It’s basic premise is that you’re in a world and in that world is a miniature representation of the same world, and at the same time the world you’re in is a small version of a larger world. It’s turtles all the way down. But they’re not just models – items that exist in one sized world also exist in …
