Removing The Simpsons

An episode of The Simpsons where Bart never existed

The episode begins with the Simpson family sitting on the couch, watching TV as usual. Marge is knitting, Homer is eating a donut, and Lisa is playing with her saxophone. Suddenly, the screen goes fuzzy and the picture starts to flicker. The family looks at each other in confusion.

Marge: What’s going on?

Homer: I don’t know, but I think we’re in trouble.

Lisa: Yeah, this doesn’t look good.

Suddenly, the screen goes completely black and the sound of static fills the room. The family looks at each other in fear.

Marge: Oh no! What’s happening?

Homer: I don’t know, but I think we’re in big trouble.

Suddenly, the screen comes back on and the family sees a strange, alternate version of themselves on the TV. They are all drawn in a different style and they look confused and scared.

Marge: (pointing at the TV) Look! That’s us!

Homer: (staring in shock) But…but that’s impossible! We’re not like that!

Lisa: (confused) Yeah, something’s not right here.

The family looks at each other in confusion and fear. They start to realize that something is very wrong with their world.

Marge: Oh my God, what’s happening to us?

Homer: (stunned) I don’t know, but we have to find out!

Lisa: (frantic) Yeah, we have to figure out what’s going on!

The family jumps up from the couch and starts to run around the house, looking for answers. They try to open doors and windows, but they are all locked. They try to break through walls and floors, but they are too strong.

Marge: (desperate) We have to find out what’s happening to us! We can’t be trapped like this forever!

Homer: (frantic) I know, I know! We have to find a way to escape this alternate reality!

Lisa: (excited) Yeah, maybe we can find a way to fix things and get back to our normal lives!

The family continues to search for answers, but they are trapped in their alternate reality. They start to panic and despair, realizing that they are doomed to be trapped in this strange world forever.

Marge: (crying) We’re never going to figure out what’s happening to us! We’re going to be trapped in this alternate reality forever!

Homer: (angry) No, we can’t give up! We have to find a way to fix things and get back to our normal lives!

Lisa: (determined) Yeah, we have to keep fighting! We can’t let this alternate reality control us forever!

The episode ends with the family still searching for answers, determined to find a way back to their normal lives and undo the changes that have been made to their world.

What first struck me is how it used the previous response as the basis for this one without prompting. I never asked for the realisation they’re not real. Bart is, of course, missing.

But what if Bart and Lisa were missing?
