Xenoblade Chronicles

Note: This is a sponsored post This Wii game was completely off my radar as it seemed like it was one of those Japan-only RPGs that would never see light of day on these shores. But then I found it was coming out in Europe. And I suddenly got very interested. It even reached number 7 on the all formats chart this week, which is quite an achievement! NEED.

Sky can’t read

At least, it seems that way. I sent them a message via their help pages: This isn’t a complaint, I just can’t find any other way of emailing you. Since Ofcom have now forced BT to reduce the cost of their wholesale product to resellers (such as yourself, with Sky Connect which I use), I was wondering when you are going pass that price reduction on to customers, and by how much our bills will be reduced? BT have a …

The PS3, Two Months On

You may recall that just over two months ago, my brain became sick and I bought a Playstation 3. A 160GB Playstation 3 Slim, to be more specific. Even though I’ve hated everything Sony have ever made, and after the mistake I made getting a PSP, I promised myself I’d never buy a PS3. So I bought a PS3. Buh. Now I’ve had it a bit longer, and PSN is back up properly (sort of), and I’ve downloaded some games …

Powershell preventing Server 2003 to 2008 upgrade

I came to upgrade one of our servers from Windows Server 2003 to 2008 today. Unfortunately, the upgrade failed in the first stages because the compatibility checker declared Windows Powershell 1.0 incompatible with Server 2008, and told me to uninstall it before upgrading. Easier said than done, because there’s no uninstaller. Well, of course there is an uninstaller, but it’s not in Add/Remove Programs where you’d expect it. Even if you show updates. Of course, many uninstallers are kept on …

Haunted

I suggested to this fella here that his One a Day post yesterday should be about things that scared him as a child, and his resultant ghost story reminded me of this one from my childhood, which I thought I’d share. Grey Lady. There’s always a Grey Lady. Friend of mine lived in a huge, but run down, manor house in the middle of nowhere, and often over the summer I’d hang out there, messing about in the boat on …

WordPress 3.2 update

So it seems nothing major broke with the update to WP3.2, which is good as I’m hearing lots of horror stories from other people – databases being chewed, themes being broken, Server 500 errors all over the place… nothing like that here yet. Mind you, I’ve not posted anything (on the blog at least) since the upgrade so there’s still time. Sorry about the lack of updates recently, incidentally, but there’ll be more soon!

WordPress 3.2

I’ve just upgraded this blog, and several of my other sites (diary, Game Over, Yeah!!, etc.) to WordPress 3.2. It’s quite a major change, and there have been many reports of it breaking sites. Fingers crossed all is currently well, as I can’t see anything too out of place. Please let me know if that isn’t the case for you! For what it’s worth, the new dashboard looks nice, but I miss the “New Post” link in the top right …
