Adding "digg it" buttons to Blogger

As you have no doubt noticed, I’ve added some digg blog furniture to my posts. This wasn’t quite as simple as the instructions on digg suggested, sadly, so I had to find help elsewhere. This page was most helpful, but it deals only with New Blogger with it’s fancy modern templates and tags, and I’m still using a (heavily modified) old Blogger template, so the examples provided didn’t work. Thankfully, they only required minor tweaks. I was interested in the …

Halo 3

Those of you even with a vague passing interest in video games can’t have failed to notice that Halo 3 came out recently for the Xbox 360. Apparently there were queues at midnight for it and everything. Even my friends list on Xbox Live was full of Halo 3 players for the first few days. But, if you read my Gaming Diary, you’ll have noticed I’ve not played it. “But you own every game ever! Surely you bought Halo 3!” …

What’s in a name?

Well, aside from letters and usually a space or two. I came across a post on EduGeek today: [The] Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF), today launched an online cyberbullying campaign, new guidance and a short film to help schools tackle bullies who use the internet or mobile phones to bully other children or abuse their teachers. And the Secretary of State for Children’s name? Ed Balls. It makes you wonder if he’s had any personal experience …

Illegal download detected!

Apparently, I am a software pirate. You see, I’m looking for a vector version of the Chinese characters for “Welcome” for work. I know what they look like, but only have them as a tiny gif and need it blown up to hugebig proportions for a sign. So I searched the internet for something to do this, and typed “chinese symbol finder” as a Google search term. In the results, I see a link for “Chinese Symbol Studio”, so follow …

Yahoo! robot! most! popular! browser!

DYSWIST? Anyway, I’ve just had a look at my site logs for this week and something slightly shocking and Yahoo-shaped seems to have occurred: It doesn’t surprise me that there have been so many individual robots in the list, but that Yahoo figure is a bit high, don’t you think? Almost 60% of my week’s hits have been from Yahoo? What are they doing? Also interesting is the decline of Internet Explorer. Firefox and Mozilla combined are now somewhat ahead …

Creating an RSS feed using PHP

Doesn’t the title of this post just fill you with thoughts of fun and excitement? Of things you love to do on warm, sunny days? Of course it does. On Friday evening, I thought (as you do), “I know! I’m going to create my own RSS feed in PHP!”. And promptly did. Hurrah! Thing is, it turned out to be a lot harder than I expected, due to the lack of full and/or correct information on the internet. Here then, …

My sister on Radio 1

It would appear that my sister Rhi‚àö¬¢n was on Radio 1 yesterday morning, on Fearne and Reggie’s show (minus Fearne, it seems) talking about a stupid competition she once took part in. Of course, it’s nothing on my appearance on television, but it’s a start, yes? Here’s the 50 second snippet: My sister on the Radio.
