Seven months I’ve been playing this game. Many times I’ve thought, “Why?” and yet have still kept on playing. I’m in a bit of a dip with it again at the moment, as there’s not much going on and my animals don’t seem keen to give me their pictures. Oh well – I’ll plod on regardless. Turnips were 74 bells, there wasn’t much to buy that I didn’t already have, and nothing much happened.
No, no training today. I don’t do that any more. My brain is too huge as it is. So I spent some time doing sudoku puzzles instead, taking my completion up to 34% done. I mainly did Beginner puzzles, but also did a couple of the Intermediate ones.
Oblivion Gate closing spree! First off, I had to help Captain Burd close the gate outside of Bruma. This was a pretty short task, although Burd’s guards all died within seconds for being rubbish. With my wealth of enchanted items (I have a permanent 43% shield effect now, plus 10% for fire, front and shock, 50% for magic, and 20% reflect damage, on top of my sword of shock and assorted enchanted arrows) I barely suffered a scratch. Turnip day! I had about 400,000 bells in my pockets, and spent the lot on white turnips costing 101 bells each. I’ve covered the “hard” ground outside my house with them all. Had a new resident today – a bull called Rodeo. He said he wanted to be naked, and then he’d love to walk round town with me. I backed away then. Two main events in Cheese today. Firstly, I went to see K.K. Slider play at the museum. He performed K.K. Mambo for me. I then realised it was also La-di-day, so went and talked to all my animals who sang assorted songs. After a week absent from Cyrodill, I thought I should pop back and get on with the main quest. Firstly, I had to go and see Jauffre and Martin again, and then they set me up with a few separate quests. Wendell was about today, so I fed him another of my red turnips, and he gave me another country guitar in return. I think I must have exhausted all of the combinations of stuff he gives out, although I’m still short of some pictures of “non resident” animals. Nook offered me 80-something for turnips today. I didn’t sell, as I’m expecting a high price at some point this week. Not much else was going on in Cheese. None of my animals are pestering me for stuff, although I have just realised that Bunnie wanted me to deliver a parcel and I forgot to do so. Oops.
Yes – another quick play. Nan took a shirt from me, then asked for another, which I gave her, and in return she gave me the first one back again. Ungrateful cow. Or goat. Or whatever. Turnips were a rubbish 56 bells today, which I wasn’t prepared to sell them for (obviously), and I found and sold a few fossils and stuff.
It has been some time since I last played this, but now I have my DS Lite and a nice long wooden stylus (from Blue on the rllmuk forums), I thought I’d give doing Ready Steady Go (the final level) on Insane mode. Of course, I was rubbish being out of practise for so long. Went back to Hard mode instead, and redid some levels there, getting better scores than I’d had previously.
Another brief play today. I suspect this week will be somewhat short on time played, actually. So turnips were 60-something bells, and none of my animals asked me for any items, so I didn’t actually need to play for long anyway. Margie was still around too, so he/she obviously isn’t going anywhere just yet.
The briefest of brief plays on this tonight, just to check to see if Margie was still about (she was), and to see if it was worth flogging turnips to Nook (72 bells each says “no”).
Using the power of time travel, I visited K.K. Slider last night and he played me K.K. Samba. I then wound forwards to this morning, and bought some turnips (only 1500 though) for 92 bells each, and then had a chat to my animals. Boy-girl Margie was packed up ready to leave, so I told her to stay. When I finally caught the time up, she was still there so maybe she isn’t going to move out.
Cripes. That was a bit of a long quest! Basically, I’ve now finished the Thieves Guild questline (50 more Gamerpoints got, too), but can’t say too much for fear of spoilers. What I will say, however, is there’s a huge trek through the Imperial City sewers, then through “The Old Way”, a secret passage to underneath the palace, then through the palace dungeons, and finally some sneaking inside the palace. I got a new resident in Cheese today – Mallory from “fedic”. Went and said hello, and then spent a while digging up fossils, selling them, and talking to animals. It was a flea market day today, but I didn’t buy much as everything I wanted wasn’t for sale, and everything for sale I didn’t need for my catalogue. No aurora knit yet either. Tch.
