"Aha! I Got It!" Escape Game (Wii): COMPLETED!

I actually completed this earlier in the week, and then completed it again a few days later. But they weren’t the proper endings – and today’s was. I hope. I can’t see anything else I may have missed anywhere, at least. And yes, it was one of the most frustrating games I’ve played in a long time. Some of the puzzles were just too hidden, trial and error, convoluted, or abstract. But it does feel rewarding having actually beaten it!

Weekend Catch Up Fighter II Turbo X

Well, it’s whole week really, not just a weekend. I have recently played these: Guitar Hero World Tour (360)Meh. It’s very Meh now. And Meh isn’t good. Some of the tracks are OK, but very few are excellent. And what’s with all the country and western? Pah. Street Fighter IV (360)I’m rubbish. Really rubbish. Even on Easy I’m having difficulty beating Seth. And El Fuerte is the most ridiculous to control character ever, Ever! Scribblenauts (DS)Still excellent and hilarious. Funny …

Guitar Hero World Tour (360)

After I dropped off my broken Wii at the post office yesterday, I went next door to Blockbuster and accidentally bought Guitar Hero World Tour and Street Fighter IV in a two for £30 deal. And? Well, it’s Guitar Hero. Only with a pants setlist. Also, I know that it’s now a full-band title so some tracks will be better for guitar than others, but tracks like No Sleep Til Brooklyn actually allow the guitar player to sleep through. It’s …

Shadow Complex (360)

This, aside from a few iPhone games, is pretty much the only thing I’ve played in the last week. Oh, and some Xbox 360 demos. Erm, anyway. This is mainly due to my Wii being deader than a dead thing, so no Animal Crossing, Super Smash Bros Brawl, or MadWorld for me. Thankfully, Shadow Complex is still aces. Hard, since I’m still playing it on Insane Mode, but aces. I’m now up to the point just after rescuing Clare and …

Super Smash Bros Brawl (Wii)

No idea why I started playing this today, but I did install it on my Wii’s hard drive. I was unable to play it for a long time as there wasn’t enough space on my Wii for the save file, although that problem has been resolved now. Didn’t bother with the Subspace Emmisary missions, instead playing single player arcade mode (which I completed with Ike) and some of the challenges and minigames. It is good, but I don’t feel like …

Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 2 (Wii): COMPLETED!

Thankfully, having completed chapter 1 last weekend, I didn’t have to wait long for chapter 2 – it was out on WiiWare yesterday! Played it a bit last night, than completed it this morning. Like chapter 1 it’s a bit short, but then it is a chapter, not a full game. It was great, anyway. A little harder than the first one, as I got stuck a couple of times, but it was just as good.

MadWorld (Wii)

I’ve had this for ages, but never really got round to playing it. However, I installed it on my Wii’s hard drive at the weekend so have played it a bit this week. First of all, it’s violent. Very violent. But it’s so stylised and over the top that it doesn’t feel so bad when you play. It’s not exactly cartoon violence, but it’s certainly not realistic. The gameplay didn’t gel with me at first. The controls felt clumsy, and …

Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 1 (Wii): COMPLETED!

I downloaded this WiiWare game a while ago, but only got round to playing it yesterday. And then completed it today. Yeah, it’s pretty short. But then, it’s by Telltale Games – who did the Strong Bad games I’d played previously – so I wasn’t really surprised. It was pretty good too. Reports on the Wii version had it down as a horrible jerky mess with broken audio and crap graphics, mainly due to the compression necessary to squeeze it …

Sonic and Knuckles (360): COMPLETED!

Bought this earlier in the week. Well, it was rude not to, wasn’t it? I already own it for practically every other format it has ever come out on, so I sort of had to. It’s actually my least-played 16-bit Sonic game. That’s probably down to it being the last released though, coupled with the fact I usually played it locked-on to Sonic 3. It’s still excellent, however, but does feel a little short without Sonic 3 in there. It’s …

Shadow Complex (360): COMPLETED! AGAIN!

I’ve not posted a lot here in a while. It’s mainly because I’ve been glued to Shadow Complex. Having completed 100% a few days ago, I started again on Hardcore mode, and today completed it 100% again. And I’m going to go straight back in and start it on Insane next. Yes, it really is that good. Here’s me at the top of my friends leaderboard: Yes, I am best.

Shadow Complex (360)

Going for the big 100%, but have run into a few rooms I can’t reach, and some now can’t be reached unless I restart. There’s a room that seems to need to foam gun to blast open too, but the gun doesn’t do anything so I think it’s bugged. Bah.

Shadow Complex (360): COMPLETED!

What a great game! It’s just like Metroid or Castlevania in structure, only in a near-future setting and in 2.5D. It took me just over 6 hours to complete, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Part of the appeal of these sorts of game comes from starting off weak and useless but building your powers and stats up to become unstoppable – defeating with ease the baddies that previously seemed indestructible. Another thing I like is the OCDness of …
