With 500m mode out of the way, I had many, many attempts at 1000m mode instead. Although it seems easier than Drill Spirits on DS in many ways (although I’m not really sure why – it’s the same game in essence), I didn’t manage to do very well. 760m-ish was about my best run. Completed another two “worlds” today, having spent ages and ages trying to get past the Starfish level. It’s just like one of the levels in Super Monkey Ball 2 on the Gamecube (as, in fact, many levels are), but for some reason, it’s $hlmun times harder on the DS game. I think I might be due to the gap in the “star” being narrower, and the star stopping for a shorter time. Anyway, with that level out of the way, …

I went back to this game this evening, although I’m not really sure why. I should be working my way through Fire Emblem or Warrior Within or something. Anyway. Decided to try and see how far through the Game+ mode I could get. Surprisingly, despite the first level on the first world appearing impossible last time I tried, I’ve managed to get to level 3-2 without much difficulty. Had a quick try on Expert 1 again too, but failed. Rubbish.

Yet another new game today! Again, I only had a brief go, but did play all three training levels. It’s exactly the same as the Gamecube version, isn’t it? That’s a good thing, of course. Also had a go as 3-on-2-on-3 in an 8-player (7 CPU and me) teams game. Which was very small, very noisy, and very, very hectic. And BEST.

I haven’t played a WonderSwan game in what seems like $hlmun years. Had a quick go on this (which arrived today) mainly to make sure it worked. And it’s great, although I think it’s a missed opportunity on the WS – it would have been ACE to play with the screen vertical, but no. Played and completed 500m mode, losing only one life. That makes it one tenth as difficult as the DS Mr. Driller game, which was virtually impossible.

That idiot kitten of Kaitlin’s was in my town today, and her mum was in Venture. It clearly didn’t take long for them to get separated again. That makes two THPS games in two days! Got through the rest of the game without too many difficulties. Finished off the School II level, getting stuck on trying to find the last bit of cash (which turned out to be right at the start of the level – I just hadn’t seen it. Tch). It only took about an hour’s play today, but I managed to complete the game! Hurrah! It was much, much easier than the N-Gage version. This was, in part, due to the controls and visibility being much better on the Dreamcast. However, I’m almost certain some of the score goals were significantly lower, and the competitions were much more forgiving. Anyway, Game Over now!

I’ve aborted playing THPS2 for the DC for the time being, since my copy of this (otherwise known as THPS on other platforms) arrived today and it makes sense to play it first.
