Viewtiful Joe 2

Reel 6 – Do Androids Dream of Romantic Scene? I don’t care, but what I do care about is the sodding SuckySuck(TM) bit that is the entire reel. Yes. Why do games designers think that recycling all of the game’s bosses and throwing them at you one after another is a good idea? There is some stupid bit of story behind it this time, with “Miss Bloody Rachel” (no, that is her name) the android morphing into copies of all …

Viewtiful Joe 2

I bought this about ten million years ago, and got a natty little weeble-clock thing with it. And then, I didn’t play it. Even though I really liked the first game. Anyway. This one is MUCH easier than the first game. So far, at least. I’m played through on Kids mode, as experience on the first Viewtiful Joe proved to me that Adults mode is impossible. I don’t think all that many people managed the original on Adults mode either, …

Manhunt: MANAGED!

Had a few hours play on this today, and, although the storyline improved from pointless killing to killing for a reason, the mechanics of the game didn’t, really. There was some killing in a factory, then some killing in a lunatic asylum, then some killing in a prison, then some killing outside a prison. Then, killing in a street, killing in an apartment, killing on the Subway, killing on a railway sidings, then some killing in a big mansion. Then …

Astro Boy: Omega Factor

Gah! Who decided to make the second run-through of the game about 89263864 times harder than the first? For starters, the baddies are now harder to kill (despite me being pretty well powered up compared to the first run), which doesn’t help. Then there’s the fact you have fewer restart points, so you have to get further through levels without dying. Managed to make my way up to level 7-1 again – where the World’s Strongest Robots are waiting. Again. …

Astro Boy: Omega Factor

Er, OK. So “Pluto” (no, not Mickey Mouse’s dog, the big hornéd robot thing) wasn’t impossible after all. Sodding hard, but not impossible. I’ve spent more time trying to kill him than actually playing the rest of the game so far. Yes, “so far”. Despite being the end of game boss, Pluto isn’t the end of the game. Oh no – there’s more. Lots more. Only, it’s the same as before only different. Er. Yes. Basically, after killing Pluto, you …

Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages

First off, I created a new game by linking Seasons to Ages. Although I’d hoped that this would give me teh magic powaz from Seasons at the start of my quest, it didn’t. Rubbish. It did, however, continue the story. Twinrova, some baddies I met in Seasons, appeared and said some stuff about Onox not dying in vain, and some flames being lit so that the Great King can be summoned. Or something. And then it was off into the …

Broken Sword: The Sleeping Dragon: SLAYERED

The wine puzzle was obvious once I’d read George’s notes. Thankfully – I was feeling stuck. I then had another annoying Sam Fisher moment, and found the Templars hiding. They knighted George, and gave him the Phi stone, to go with his Omega and Alpha stones. On returning to the “gang”, the location of Susarro was figured out (the exact location, that is) and it was off to Eygpt. Another sneak-past-the-guards section later, and we were inside the Armillary, where …

GTA: San Andreas

Decided not to bother with the police bikes, as the heist probably isn’t part of the main story. Instead, I did some more missions for Toreno, which I didn’t realise were available to me until I saw the red glow at my airstrip. Had to fly a plane really low, under the radar, to some point and drop some stuff, then fly back. This was made harder by the twitchiest plane controls EVAR and the fact that the “minimum height” …

Family Mahjongg II: Shanghai e no Michi

Grrr. There is cheating afoot. There must be! I never get any of the tiles I want, and the computer always manages to finish before I’m even halfway. When I get down to needing, say, either a 3 of Bamboo or a 6 of Bamboo to win, I get a steady stream of useless Wind and Dragon tiles. Conversely, if I want a particular Wind tile, all I get is tiles from suits I’m not even aiming for. Cheating. FACT. …
