Oekaki Puzzle Battle (DS)

With all of the Hard puzzles complete, I had only Super Hard to work through. I managed three of them in double-quick time, mainly as they were all so easy. In fact, one of them (which turned out to be some kind of magic staff) had 6 of the 16 squares completely empty, and 8 of the other 10 could be filled in instantly with no deduction required. That leaves me with just 16 Super Hard puzzles to do, meaning …

Oekaki Puzzle Battle (DS)

Just the one puzzle today, a Super Hard one, which was really quite difficult due to the chequerboard-type nature of so many of the squares. It took about 20 minutes to do, which is forever for one of these puzzles. Anyway, I have 10 Super Hard puzzles complete now, only 20 to go…

Oekaki Puzzle Battle (DS)

Just two more puzzles today – a Hard and a Super Hard. One of the “squares” in the Super Hard one was a pain – there were not many bits ot fill in, so all the rows and columns were like “2 1 1” or “1 1”, which makes things pretty difficult. Anyway. That’s now 38% of the game complete.

Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS)

Turnip day today, and after finding Joan (who kept going missing throughout the morning) I bought 5500 turnips for 110 bells each. This was mostly funded from my savings, but I also sold 150,000 bells of fruit too. After that, I stripped Nook of all his wares again, and then it hit noon, so the Fishing Tournement began. I caught loads of fish (including a clown fish, which I hadn’t previously added to the museum), but none of the ten …

Oekaki Puzzle Battle (DS)

Just one more puzzle completed today – a Super Hard one (which turned out to be a bunch of flowers). It was actually pretty difficult too – lots of patterns like “3-1-1-1” and “2-1-1” which, when both horizontal and vertical, make it hard to figure out. That’s another 16 “squares” off the total, though.

Oekaki Puzzle Battle (DS)

Worked my way through even more puzzles this evening. I’ve now completed all of Normal, as well as 4 on Hard and one on Super Hard. Not that the difficulty has anything to do with the actual difficulty, of course – it’s just how long it takes to finish it, that’s all. Still about 700 “squares” to go, though.

Oekaki Logic Battle (DS)

Oekaki is another new game today, and is a puzzle game often called “Hanji” or “Picross”. Basically, you start with a grid. On the end of each row and column are numbers that tell you how long a line of squares in that row or column is, and you have to fill them in to fit the rules. It usually gives a simple “pixelated” picture. For some reason, this DS variation seems to have a sort of card battle mode. …

Mawashite Koron (DS)

Supposedly, this is a sequel-of-sorts to Cameltry on the SNES and in the arcade. I’ve never played it, so I don’t know how it compares. It’s sort of like a cross between a 2D Super Monkey Ball and the special stages from Sonic the Hedgehog. You have a ball in a maze, and rotate the maze with the stylus or shoulder buttons. Get the ball to the end, in the time limit, and YOUR WINNER. Completed all of Training, Beginner, …

Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS)

Well, Nook’s was back open today after its “revamp” to Nookingtons. There’s a hair salon in there now, and Timmy and Tommy, his irritating nephews, run the “home wares” department upstairs. I decided to have my hair cut, but it seems you can’t just pick what hair you want – you have to answer questions to determine what would suit you best. So I have a ginger basin cut. Hurrah! I think. And Nook wanted 65 bells for my turnips, …

Tony Hawk’s Underground 2

After Berlin was Australia (note it doesn’t tell you where in Australia), and amongst other things I got to ride a go-kart, set fire to some builders, scares some seagulls, and skate around as a guy with a barbeque stuck to his front and a parasol on his head. Then it was over to New Orleans (pre-flood, it seems) where I had to wake the dead, skate in Hell, and then scoot around as a Papa Lazarou-type character on a …

Mario Golf: Advance Tour

Thought it best to actually take part in some tournaments today, so went and competed in the Marion Doubles. Which I won, with easy (I was -5 at the end, compared to my nearest rival, on +6). Then I did the Marion Singles with similar success. I’m assuming the game actually gets harder, as it was really simple to come first in these two tournaments.

GTA: San Andreas

MOST ANNOYING BIT EVAAR. It seems there’s a flying school mission at the airstrip I’ve just bought, so I went and finished that. It took AGES as it’s too hard. The plane controls are too twitchy, and when flying the helicopter the camera swings round to suit itself but not you, meaning you can’t see where you’re going, or what you’re shooting at. Stupid. Anyway, that done, it was off to Las Venturas properly, to do some more missions for …

Mario 64DS

Had a quick go at catching rabbits to unlock more minigames. I realised that you actually have to catch each rabbit four times, as catching one with Yoshi only unlocks a Yoshi minigame. This could be tedious. The seven minigames I unlocked are pretty good, but nothing special. There’s a pelmanism game, using sounds not pictures, two of those grid-of-squares and touching one inverts it and the surrounding ones type games, which I hate, although most of these are pretty …
