Let me tell you a story about a Wii U delivery
Twas a balmy day in September. The Wii U had been announced, and I’d been pedalling all year to afford it: one was ordered from Zavvi. Cries of “No! Not Zavvi! You’ll never get it on time!” abound. But a £75 saving, and therefore a 75 mile saving, was too good it miss. Although it nearly was missed. Read on! Everything went quiet. Nothing happened for weeks. After all, the release date wasn’t until November the 30th. I preordered Mario …
Eurogamer 2012
I haven’t been to a proper games show since, ooh, 2001? 2002? Whenever it was I went to ECTS, anyway. Ah, ECTS. Games show for people who like Gran Turismo 3 and steering wheels, and not much else. Good times. What did I think of the games? Well, a quick run through: New Super Mario Bros U (Wii U) Awesome. Going to be excellent playing this with my daughter on the screen. Sure, it’s mostly more of the same as …

3DS Game Need List
It’s been a while since I posted up a list of games I need. Sorry, NEED. Some would say there aren’t many 3DS games out recently or in the next 12 months, which, if true, makes me wonder which bit of me made all these up: Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Marvel Pinball Heroes of Ruin Professor Layton & the Mask of Miracle New Super Mario Bros 2 Luigi’s Mansion 2 Harvest Moon Fire Emblem Rayman Origins Epic Mickey Paper Mario Layton …
Skyrim Louis Letrush bug
After stealing a horse for Louis Letrush many hours ago in Skyrim, I noticed half-a-Louis near the stables outside Whiterun. He seemed to be stuck in the ground. It was odd, sure, but this sort of thing is reasonably common in games like this. However, a few hours later I was walking past Whiterun again, and, well – watch.

(Guest post by Nintendo) In the beginning of the year, Nintendo promised new Pokemon games and several interesting developments for all fans of the 3DS Nintendo console. Let’s Play! Light Cycle
It’s been an age since I had a Friday Let’s Play! Before I’d even heard of Tron, or seen another one of the 8962398146238 game clones of the Tron Light Cycle sequence, I had this – Light Cycle (Light Cycles on the title screen, for some reason) by PSS. It was awesome. Looking back now, it looks basic even by Spectrum standards, but the gameplay is still there. I also don’t remember any other variant having the little “blips” around …
Pound-a-Mile Update – 500 Miles!
I’ve not done an update on this for a while, but since I hit a milestone last night I thought I should. Yesterday I passed the 500 miles cycled so far this year mark! OK, so I managed 200 miles in the first month, then took 3.5 times that long to go just 1.5 times that far, but bear with me and my excuses. Firstly, I have tried to go out – honest. Nearly every week I’ve at least gone out …
Xbox.com’s broken psychicness
On the Xbox Rewards site at the moment there’s a section where you can get a “user type” created, depending on how you use your Xbox. It’s here, if you want to do it. It is, of course, completely broken. Like everything else on xbox.com, whenever I’m asked anything about what I use my Xbox for, I’m careful to point out “Games”. And nothing else. No films, TV, music, social networking, chicken farming or strategic planning. Or Kinect. So I …
I made the news
A few weeks back I did an Interactive Fiction “thing” at work. And for some reason, it was reported in the local press! (I’ve removed the picture because it had kids in it).
How I hate PC gaming
Ten years ago, I used to play quite a lot of PC games. Sim City, Tony Hawk, GTA, Rollcage, Half Life. Some of the Tomb Raiders and things like NOX too. I forget the rest. The last PC game I really sank any time into was Anarchy Online, back in 2005. Even that I didn’t play for long. Aside from brief prod at the Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst demo, that was the end of my PC gaming. There were …
Kid Icarus: Uprising is nearly here!
This is a sponsored post Kid Icarus: Uprising brings the action and adventure of the beloved series to new heights – and new visual dimensions – on the Nintendo 3DS system.
2011: The Games
It’s a little later in the year than usual, but, as is traditional, here’s my list of the best games of 2011. Also as previously noted, this is a list of the best five games I played in 2011, not necessarily those that came out then. As is becoming more common, I’m buying games well after release when they’re cheap. 5. escapeVektor (Wii) Criminally overlooked, this WiiWare gem is a fantastic Painter-type arcade game. I played it from start to finish …
Johnny Kung Fu
This might just be my most favourite 3DS game that isn’t out yet. Just look at it and tell me it’s not yours too.
