Why I’m not buying a Nintendo 3DS

When the Game Boy Advance came out, I was there. Day one. New console, imported from Japan. MINE. Gamecube? Queued up at silly-o’clock in the morning outside Game. GBA SP? Day one. DS? Imported from Japan. DS Lite? Day one pre-order. Wii? Freezing December queue. I’ve never bothered with any other consoles on release – only Nintendo ones since 2000. So why not the same with the 3DS? Here’s 5 reasons why: 5. £££ £229 is a lot of money.  …

The Apple iPad

A couple of weeks ago, we took receipt of a shiny new iPad at work. And I’ve been testing it. And it is very shiny. Did I mention it was shiny? Because it is. Very. The haters are quick to point out that it’s just a big iPod Touch. Which it is, only that’s missing the point. Other haters (or the same ones) say it’s very expensive. Which (again) it is, and (again), that’s missing the point too. Others too …

Sandisk 2GB Wii SD card – and win one!

I was sent a Wii SD Card this week (actually, three), and last night got to try one out. So, here is a review. Yes, a review of a piece of plastic and silicon the size of a postage stamp! Amazing. The first thing you’ll notice is that, unlike most SD cards, the SanDisk for Wii card is white. Like the Wii. Little known fact: the Wii itself, its power supply, the  SD card shaped. Check yours – I’m right! …

Digital Dragon System

Just look at this! It’s AMAZING! You know the OneStation handheld Famiclone? What do you mean “no”? I wrote about it right here! This, the “Digital Dragon System”, is actually just another OneStation. It even says “OneStation” on it. But it’s a different shape! And! It has 999 games built in! And! The cartridges are a different shape! Gasp!! Other than that, it’s the same thing. A poor quality handheld Famiclone with fewer than advertised games (they’re almost all duplicates) …

iPad Needage

Yesterday, Apple announced the iPad. Not that anyone was really surprised, as all bar the nitty gritty specifics had been leaked already over the last few weeks. And, although I was looking forward to the reveal, I didn’t think I was going to be especially interested in the product. After all, I’ve had tablet PCs and PDAs and an iPhone and laptops and netbooks and stuff in the past. So it wasn’t going to be anything new. I was wrong. …

Free shiny retro new thing!

After scraping together all my Club Nintendo stars loyalty points at the end of last year (some were due to expire on the 31st of December), I had a look through the Club Nintendo Stars Catalogue for things to spend them all on. Of course, it had to be this: It’s three old Game & Watch games – Oil Panic, Donkey Kong, and Green House – all for the DS. Which is oooh shiny enough in itself, but becomes even …

The Outstanding itek Wireless Console: Part 1

I teased it a bit yesterday, but here’s some more information on the best games console since the original Game King – the itek! I paid a STAGGERING ¬¨¬£19.99 for this from local supermarket “Roys”. The price says ¬¨¬£39.99 – but that was how much it cost last year when they started stocking it. I knew if I waited long enough they’d drop it a bit, and I was right! Worth the wait? Of course! Unboxening It’s the law of …

How lovely is the iPhone?

The answer, of course, is “very lovely indeed”. My previous phone was a T-Mobile Vario III, a replacement a year ago for my Vario II. To be honest, I’ve never really had a problem with it. Ok, so it didn’t really work well with my Mac (until I bought SyncMate, anyway), and sometimes it forgot to type double letters, but it was great for everything I wanted to use it for. Or so I thought. After using an iPhone for …
