Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time (Switch): COMPLETED!

Did I completely forget that this was also an arcade game? Pretty sure I only ever knew it as a SNES title, but no – here’s the arcade version. It is, as you’d expect, very similar to the original version but with better graphics and animation, and levels set in various time periods like “dinosaurs” and “pirates” as the title would suggest. It felt somewhat easier than the original, perhaps because there are a few more moves and certainly more …

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Switch): COMPLETED!

Yes! The arcade version! It’s another game on the Cowabunga Collection, and probably the best one on there from what I remember. Sure, it’s mindless and lacking in combos and special moves like newer examples of the genre, but it’s a classic and you can never hear “SAY YOIRE PRAYERS, TOITLES” too many times. Also, being an arcade game designed to extract as many coins from your purse as possible, it’s really rather hard and the bosses especially are just …

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Fall of the Foot Clan (Switch): COMPLETED!

Originally a Game Boy game, this TMNT game is now one of the games on the “Cowabunga” collection, and it… isn’t great. Pretty sure it wasn’t great at the time, either, what with the flickery graphics and barely-there animation and repetitive gameplay and the tiny viewport and, well, it goes on. It’s not that far from Kung Fu Master for most of the game, having to attack enemies as they approach from left and right, but there’s also some basic …

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge (PS5): COMPLETED!

A PS5 game? How rare! But yes, this game was on my Switch wishlist for a while waiting for a decent sale, but then it recently appeared on PS++++++ as a free rental so I played it there instead. It felt wrong, somehow, even though it’s on the same TV the Switch version would have been played on. Went through the game with my daughter. I was Mikey, she was Don, and it was great. It’s a proper sequel to …

Ninja Gaiden (Switch): COMPLETED!

I have to admit, I never really played any of the Ninja Gaiden games originally. I knew they were hard, but oh my word was this hard. There’s no way in hell I’d ever get close to completing it without save states, and it is just that it is difficult – it’s a mess in terms of collision detection, and baddies that respawn if you back-track a single pixel. These two things often conspire against you, as you’re knocked back …

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (360): COMPLETED!

Wow. It’s been a while since I’ve completed an Xbox 360 game. In fact, bar the odd bit of Minecraft, I’ve barely touched it in ages. Today my daughter wanted to play a Turtles game, so I picked this. It’s the original arcade game from 1989, although I did complete it almost eight years ago. Blimey. Was the 360 even around that long ago? This time was in co-op, obviously, and I found it easier than I remember. Sure, a billion …

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Reshelled (360): COMPLETED!

I powered up my 360 for the first time in what seems like forever just to download and play this yesterday. I didn’t play for very long, but then today I completed it. Already. Not that I really expected any less, though. I mean, it’s a pretty short game. I just didn’t expect it to be quite so easy, that’s all. Inly the final boss was any sort of challenge, and even he wasn’t too difficult. But it looks amazing, …

Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword Demo (DS)

That’s right – a DS demo! The new Nintendo Channel on the Wii allows the download of DS game demos, which is pretty ace. Well, except I had all the games already. Apart from this one! And it’s pretty good. It seems very similar in style to the Ninja Gaiden II demo on the 360 I played last week, only you do everything with the stylus. And it works better than you’d expect too. I was quite impressed, although I …

Legend of the Mystical Ninja (Wii)

Or Goemon, as we know it’s really called. “Kid Ying” and “Dr. Yang”? Pff. Rubbish. So it’s mad, yes. And I’ve worked my way through four zones. Or five? I killed the thing in the fairground anyway, with all the lanterns on it. And now I’m in a place where I can rotate the room around with buttons. And I played lots of mini games. Mole FTW!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (360): COMPLETED! AGAIN!

In case you hadn’t spotted the trend this evening, this too was played in two-player mode, and after about half an hour’s play, we’d completed it. I managed another achievement too – destroying everything destructible in the entire game. Now there’s an achievement to be proud of. If you’re an ASBO’d up teenager.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (360): COMPLETED!

What? Turtles? Eh? That’s right chums and chummettes – today’s XBLA download was the original 1989 TMNT arcade game. And look what I did! I downloaded it, and then completed it! Go me! It was actually shorter than I expected, taking maybe 40 minutes to do in total. But then, how many people play a game in the arcade for longer than that? Anyway, I played all the way through as Mikey (BECAUSE HE IS BEST), and now I can’t …
