PSP: Second impressions

I’ve now had my PSP for four weeks, so I thought it was time to re-evaluate what I think about it. All six games I wanted for it have now arrived, and I’ve given it a good poking. So, did things improve? The Console My previous comments on this were not very positive. In short, I said it was rubbish. For the most part, I still agree, but there are a few concessions. Firstly, my R button was very sticky, …

Amazing mid-air bail skate video

I’ve been playing skate. on the Xbox 360 a lot this last couple of weeks, and in the process I’ve been uploading some “sick” videos from it, and transferring them to Google Video. As have lots of other people, it seems. While browsing through them, I came across this (real) skate video. I think the term is “gnarly”, or something.

Fixing Drupal’s anonymous user access denied problem

I run several Drupal-based websites, and today one of them stopped allowing unregistered users access to new content, for seemingly no reason. One solution I found was to upgrade from v5.6 (which I was running) to v5.7, but that didn’t work. It turns out there’s a really simple fix that worked for me. I just ran the following SQL command: INSERT INTO node_access VALUES (0, 0, ‘all’, 1, 0, 0); I renamed “node_access” to include the Drupal table prefix (you …

The week of Famousness

I got word yesterday that mon visage would be gracing the backs of buses in and around Kings Lynn from this morning. It’s very strange to think that a larger-than-life-size me will be gurning at drivers as they’re stuck in the daily Edward Benefer Way traffic jam. I’m sure they’ll appreciate the scenery. I’ve also had a mention on the UEA press release, which means I might get newspaper inches too. How very exciting!

The day of Famousness

You might recall that a couple of weeks ago, I posted about how I was possibly going to be used in an advertising campaign. Well, today is the day the campaign is unveiled, and I will be part of it! So, I could be appearing in newspapers, bus stops, and on the backs of actual buses, promoting The University of East Anglia. Woo!

Our Not Interested department

I’ve just had a phonecall on my mobile. Welsh Bloke: Hi there! I’m just ringing you to let you know your T-mobile contract is up for renewal and we can offer you a brand new phone and a massive reduction on your bill! My contract is indeed up for renewal. So I naturally just assumed it was T-mobile calling me. Me: Erm, OK. It’s unlikely you’ll be able to reduce my bill… Welsh Bloke: Lets see we– Me: Hang on, …

Connecting to Nintendo WFC through a Mac

A while ago, I upgraded all the networking kit in my house. My wireless access point kept freezing, and I was getting some lag on Xbox Live, so I thought I’d replace the lot.¬¨‚Ć In doing so, I also bumped my wireless security up from WEP to WPA – something my old kit didn’t support. However, my DS only supports WEP or nothing. That meant I wasn’t able to connect to the internet for Nintendo WFC games like Mario Kart …

Caution, this server is reversing

Actually, it’s backing up. Do you see? In fact, they’re all backing up, pretty much. Which means I can’t do very much. So I’m bored. If you’re bored too, why not have a look at some, all, or none of these April Fools from yesterday? http://www.wow-europe.com/wrath/features/bard/bardclass.xml http://www.google.com/virgle/index.html http://i28.tinypic.com/25s8zlv.jpg http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/moltencore/ http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article985644.ece http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/04/01/teacher_head_explosion_april_fool/ http://www.game.co.uk/CoolStuff/Miscellaneous/~r334349/GAMEware-Double-Bass-Controller/ http://www.xbox.com/en-US/community/promotions/2008/spring/default.htm http://a.viary.com/blog/posts/dodo-web-based-time-machine http://buzz.blogger.com/2008/04/announcing-google-weblogs-beta.html http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/16095/Postals-Cat-Silencer-Enters-US-Armys-Arsenal/ http://www.google.com.au/intl/en/gday/index.html
